Another outrageously fun time. Just like every year I was not that fired up about most of it. WRONG! Margo Price is cool and everything but... WRONG! She and her band sounded great. Blackberry Smoke I had just seen at the Marcus King thing so no big deal. WRONG! They smoked. Avetts hadn't really impressed me lately. WRONG! They were far and away better than their Lockn set. Then shit got real. TAB had a few dates in Oct & Nov but probably not that cohesive right now. WRONG! That set was fire. Pam is ready to go on tour. The Les Bros set I expected to be a well played but rather sedate affair. Something honoring Greg. WRONG! It was the most aggressively played ABB I have heard. Crushing versions of those songs. Then Mule with Ann Wilson. Yeah seen it at Lockn and outdoors it was cool. Indoors it was larger than life. Huge sound. The between sets were outstanding as well. Holly Bowling. Jake Shimabukuro. Holly Bowling AND Jake Shimabukuro. Holly Bowling, Jake Shimabukuro AND Warren Haynes. Warren Haynes AND Trey Anastasio. Once in a lifetime events. Had a great time hanging out with friends and family. Actually not family so much. We walked in during Holly Bowlings opening set and Pam headed for the rail. I never saw her until the very end of the show like 7 hours later. Spent a lot more time hanging out with the critical one. I also saw Dave Frey in the concourse before the show and stopped to speak to him. (Technically that was the last I saw of the little red headed girl) I had a good 6 hour Asheville buzz going so the precise conversation is lost. I am sure I was eloquent. Not. The Christmas Jam Session Ale from Sierra Nevada is one of the better ones they have served. Toured the New Belgium Brewery, ate and drank at Bhramari Brewing Company and then had a few Downstairs Belgium Bar at the Thirsty Monk. Oysters; Malpeques (PEI), Murder Point (AL) and Duxbury (MA) to start the day with Bloodies and a Chorizo & mushroom omelet at Oyster House Brewing Company. It was a long drive home.
