However, the Lube first set was very good, and the second set was fantastic!
Very political and social commentary feel if you were listening, as referenced above.
If you love Bertha like we do in our house, DC is a great place to hear it. Got a great one last night.
However, on getting to the venue and then some of the staff reception and vendors once we arrived, somewhat disappointing. I would be a little more blunt, but I am going to talk to them about it, so I want to be fair to the couple of bright spots expereinced, and the potential that they respond positively to my feedback.
Anyway, D&C came and played, so it all worked out.

It's kind of odd they seem to have a Jiffy Lube DC set.
At JLL in 2017 they opened with Shakedown Street, last night they opened with Shakedown Street.
Also they played New Minglewood Blues, Throwing Stones, US Blues, New Speedway Boogie, Hard Rains Gunna Fall both in 2017 and last night.
I wasn't able to hunt down Hondo's party, the Rally bus got me there at 6:45 and the security lines were a bit nuts. I ended up missing half of Shakedown Street because I was in line even though I skipped the lot scene and went straight to the gates.
It's off to Charlotte in the morning - once again I'll have my flag flying. Will post pics post-Charlotte for the pictures or it didn't happen camp.

First Dead show was in '93 and I've caught just about every post-Jerry incarnation since. Way more shows that I would care to count. And I am pretty sure that was my first time ever catching a live To Lay Me Down and Casey Jones.
Dark Star got pretty interesting, and I'm really glad they're finally giving Oteil a chance to showcase his bass prowess.
Now I'm good and ready for the official Hampton announcement of which TOO has prophesied.

Glad you enjoyed the show. I can see not catching a To Lay Me Down back in the day but would think NOT catching a Casey Jones is also pretty rare.

Still a little jealous of that second set from Citi Field.
Message me your digits and I'll text when I get there.

Some random musings on my two show micro-tour with Dead & Company.
Night 1 at "The Lube" in my back yard of Bristow. Opening with Shakedown was strong. It was slinky, serpentine, and psychedelic. Other highlights included the acoustic Friend of the Devil and Ripple along with China Cat Sunflower/I Know You Rider. Bobby gets my MVP vote for the night.
Night 2 at PNC Music Pavillion in Charlotte. The pit was smaller than the one in Bristow, so we were much closer to the stage. Highlights included They Love Each Other, Brown Eyed Women, Mr. Charlie, and Eyes of the World. Really liked seeing Mayer play pedal steel on To Lay Me Down. My MVP vote is a split between John and Jeff. There were several times they started jamming and spurred each other further.
Seeing great music played in person is something I enjoy more than just about anything. It truly recharges my soul. Add in being up close to the stage and some of my best friends in the world, and it really doesn't get any better than that.

Very grateful to be able to see this band, they have energized the music beyond what I ever hoped for.
Rumors are strong for a "fall tour" of six cities and repeat in Mexico.
