Welcome to the Lockn' Forum - The home of the original Lockn' Music Festival family!
I agree with all of these assessments and remain hopeful they can get straight with Van Morrison--not only would he be great to see, he'd add a lot to the fest on the "well known artist" aspect. As would NY/CH. And given the apparent hiccup, that expands the possibility of a Big Name coming in later. The eastern US is so saturated with summer festivals that all of the dynamics are challenging. Can they have Crazy Horse without that one guy? Please note: This forum is in no way officially associated with Lockn' Festival or its promoters.

I think the Relix stage will still be the late night stage like last year when that was the only thing it was used for.

Expect some shuffling and inserts.
They could easily drop in a Big Name.
But no point speculating so please stop saying Neil Young!!! It's been five years of that fercryinoutloud!
To other comments, I agree without the Big Names this is not a "destination fest" except for people who have been and know what fun it is regardless of who plays at 10:00 pm. But given that Dead Co x 2 nights didn't make it a destination fest, either, perhaps it's a prudent call.
They have to bring in younger newer acts to sustain the fest. That means fewer old dogs. I see that exhibited here. The older fans of the old acts look for an urban event with more hotel options.
Overall I see Lockn' being tuned up some to be a solid, smaller regional event with serious music, rather than big with "popular" music. Fine with me.

Keep telling yourself that. They didn’t have the money to secure a big headliner. Tickets sales will suffer because of it. So let’s trot out different incarnations of TTB and have Bob and Trey sit in.

JRAD isn’t listed as a late night act, that’s why I’m saying they’re definitely headlining Thursday.

Unique collabs don’t always result in magic, but the potential is there. And they are, well, unique. IMNSHO they nailed this aspect. YMMV

Second, I've seen Trey dozens and dozens of times, with Phish but also various other projects. For my money, when he's at the top of his game he's the best there is (since Jerry). But he needs room to spread out, to explore, to find riffs, to repeatedly miss the mark and then hit it. He can play a mean tune any time, but to hear his gift takes patience, on his part and the audience's. That gift is only sometimes on display with the current version of TAB (he leans on the horns) and I'm not sure how a collaboration with Derek will play out. I may be wrong but I can imagine Derek trading wicked solos, coming out of the "Layla" tradition; Big Red can obviously keep up but I'm not sure if that would give Trey the space and time he needs. I guess we'll see!
I don't mean to sound negative! I think this will be a fun weekend with moments of greatness. I envy those folks who are relatively nearby. But I'm wondering whether it's THE thing for me this summer.

I'm doing the same Northside.. went to our first Floydfest last year - although a little too much blue grass and country for me - they have their act together, we had a great time at the festival. Hope to see you at both!
Still a little stunned at the LockN lineup - but looking forward to it nonetheless.

This is basically my sentiment. Lockn is a 6 hour drive for me so it’s not far but it’s not in my backyard either. The line up is deep but I think lacking at the top (based on my personal preference). TTB with Trey looks awesome, though Vulfpeck opening for them is criminal (IMO). Your statement on TAB is exactly how I feel. I want to see Trey rip, not cover Gorillaz songs. Though Trucks with them looks interesting. I like Jrad but don’t love them like others. I’m really disappointed about no UM/Panic/Cheese. I know they play every year but that’s what I love about Lockn.
Bottom line is Lockn is my favorite fest and this forum is my favorite online community. At this point the line up doesn’t have me running out the door to buy tickets but we’ll see. If I go it will be because of the scene and this community more so than anything.

If past behavior is any indication I’ll waffle back and forth then pull the trigger after Peach. Maybe just for 2-3 days depending on additions.
