Welcome to the Lockn' Forum - The home of the original Lockn' Music Festival family!
I plan the trip, equipment, supplies and food/bev extensively starting when I unpack from last year. I used to plan the music schedule, too. I've learned to unplan once I get there to avoid the type of stress I come to avoid. Sure, there are "can't miss" acts but I'm just telling you, it sometimes doesn't work and it's still all OK. If you are with a group, planning is especially hard. I have several different groups there, but I bounce solo among them like a pinball. An early supper on the vendor field is a great way to go. If you like elaborate cooking, also try to pre-cook and prep as much as you can at home. Raff being in VIP/RV will have the easiest access and shortest back-and-forth, which many find is the best value in staying VIP. I get that, especially after having one year about as far as possible from the showfield, up hill both ways. Good advice and my experience as well. Hornsby used to play prominently at that fest but hasn't for the last year or two.
Would love to have Isbel again; he's releasing a new album and the one track I've heard was great. Drive By Truckers recently released one, too; how about a reunion? (OK not likely I know)

It can (& probably will) happen and don’t forget their annual cancellation of one act that will cause flipping the order around etc. Cause Lockn gonna Lockn

Look at it this way: it's not a train schedule. It's an approximation of what might happen.
Although, with the rotating stage, once things are rolling, they stick close to the time slots; no one stays over for an extra encore or even a curtain call. Sometimes one band yields 15 minutes to another but they stay pretty tight on the "day of".

The main variable is that you don't know how far a walk it is from your campsite to the showfield, although if you are VIP that shortens that.
Sleep patterns are askew; if the weather's harsh you may not sleep as well or you may spend more time at camp recharging. I've missed a lot of music by hooking into good conversations on the side--and often have no regrets.
Sometimes it takes longer to go get food, and speaking of which, I enjoy the "food lawn" for a break and while you can hear and barely see the stage from there, it's not the same as being there. But again, no regrets.
The general happiness of just being there often overtakes the stage focus.

If people want to do elaborate cooking at camp, I hope they find it worth it. We learned the hard way first year. In Outer Slobobia.

Don't worry about bringing a guitar, I always bring one and it never leaves the car. Just saying, I never find the time to play and if you do, come borrow mine.
