Are there only 3 entrances? Oak Ridge Road, Diggs Mountain, and James River?
Can we arrive from the east from Buckingham? Or do we need to get to HWY 29??

widespread is and always will hold a special place in my heart, my mom was really close to those guys when they were first getting started, and my uncle chris is good buddies with john bell, and to top it all off, i was born in a hospital room with space wrangler playing. Huge widespread fan and these shows are the ones I usually suggest for folks trying to get into widespread:
Houser Era:
4-3-1996 Huntsville Alabama- Always bring the heat in Huntsville. The Diner>Porch Song>Pleas second set opener is fire. Encore of Can't Find My Way Home is incredible
2-7-1996 Jackson Hole Wyoming- Take Out>Tall Boy>C.Brown>Chilly H2O opener is to die for. Second set opens with a Yer Blues into Low Rider
11-20-2001 Johnson City TN- Schoolgirl>The Waker>She caught the katy>Gimmie second set closer with encore of chunk of coal is fantastic and will get your bones shaking
Jimmy Herring Era:
11-08-2013 Asheville NC- Night one of two with a killer Slippin into darkness with Karl Denson, and a Dream Song>Take Out> Porch song encore (rare stuff right there)
6-7-2014 Chattanooga TN- Riverbend festival set earlier this year, panic tends to play "greatest hits" at things like this, much like the dead use to do and much like phish does at a jazz fest or the like when your playing to fans and people who have never seen you before. The Disco>Diner>Tall Boy opener is fantastic. I thought this show would be your typical wsp city festival show, but they sounded amazing, best I have seen them in a long time.
You can find most if not all of these on www.panicstream.com I highly suggest catching some of them, and if afterwards your still not interested, well at least ya tried, I am the same way with phish, never got into them but i tried really hard. Hope this helps. Enjoy!

I heard there's going to be a six lane processing area. Can you tell where it is?
She replied;
There are a couple of large areas for processing folks through. There are two very wide gates and roads completed I saw yesterday and they are working on a third.
Gate 1 is on your patron map and is located on Diggs Mtn Road immediately after the intersection with Oak Ridge Road. The email sent out to the VIP folks and RV folks the other day which was posted here will be using that gate.
The second is also on the Map and is also on Diggs Mountain Road. This gate intersects with Jay's Boulevard. The other end of Jay's Boulevard intersects with Route 29N and comes through the Day Parking area.
There is a third, Gate 13, I believe, which is labeled GA Ingress from Diggs Mountain Road. That is a gate which will ultimately merges into Lockn' Lane, I believe.
They also had a couple of places marked as "contingency" areas, where they could line folks up to access "contingency" gates if need be. One of those contingency gates, I believe, is on the map and is down near "The Tree." That entrance would put folks onto RV Ridge.
If you look at the patron map, the areas marked for "traffic congestion" are in red. Then there is a "green" area marked possible congestion which makes a loop down Arrington Road and back around to James River Road, where folks would ultimately turn left in Shipman onto Oak Ridge Road. I believe the plan is to use that loop through our beautiful landscape if things started getting backed up so Festival goers won't end up 14 lanes wide in a field.
Looks to me like they've put a lot of effort into this to make it work this year!

I roll down RTE 29 past the site entrance, go down to the turn around spot (U-turn), head back up 29 follow the red line up to James river road, then over to the purple line oak ridge road, to the RV VIP SVIP area..?...
do I read that right??
Do exactly as you said, come down us-29 southbound (if you look at my map above that i made) you will go 7.7 miles PAST the festival entrance and do a u-turn at Turman (yes Turman not Truman) Hardware, where you will then truck it back northbound in your RV in the LEFT LANE. At which point HP/Festival/Local Police will direct you to your entrance, which should be about 2.5-3.0 miles north of the festival entrance. I know it's going around your ass to get to your elbow, but thats what they were told to do, and they called the nelson county sheriffs office to verify that but 100% when you make that u-turn stay in the left lane because car camping, tent only camping, and all other GA entrances (Except RV) are going through the main entrance and will be in the right lane on us-29

Bring a small back pack, throw in some reading material in that back pack along with some clorox wipes, a can of lysol, and a roll of toilet paper/baby wipes. This is what we call at our camp "the shit bag" hang it in a central location at camp (accessible to all) and when nature calls, no matter how bad the porto-john, you will be prepared. nothing stands a chance, and you can plop right down and do your thing

From what I have been hearing lately, if I were you I wouldn't come too early unless you like to drive around in circles, or hang out at Walmart. Also the Food Lion up the road doesn't sound too friendly of a place to hang.
I am about an hour north of Asheville NC, and my travel time is about 4.5 hrs. I am dying to hit the road really early, but I know if I did I would be hanging around at a Walmart in Lynchburg for a few hours. Walmart's just aren't my idea of having fun, but I will stop for any last minute items if need be and then hit the road again.
To be safe, I am thinking of arriving at the site somewhere around 4am. and looking at the situation at hand. My son is going to meet me at Will Call so he can pick up the Media access creds. He should be in the vicinity around the same time.
Thanks WilldBill! I am in Greenville, not far from Asheville at all so generally the same route and all, just a hour longer travel here. I was just mainly wondering because we canceled our hotel room in hopes of hitting the place early enough and because of some other logistical issues with some folks we are camping with. We are traveling in a caravan of three cars. We are probably looking at getting there very early, so if anybody else is gonna be rolling into the Arrington area around 11 or midnight wednesday-thursday, let me know. I will obviously be happy to post on the situation for everybody one we arrive, mainly just seeing who else will be around during that time.
Hope everybody is ready, I think this one may top last year, which is saying something!

I was one of the tortured souls of the field of hell, we arrived around 7:45-8:00 Thursday morning last year. Not complaining too much after hearing of so much worse but we finally had our car parked and all of our stuff up (preferred tent only last year) by 3:30, so we caught the music and that was great, but we still waited, and I remember watching from that field a stream of lights and people who had waited all day to get in still sitting there watching what they paid for happen without them there (it always does, but it doesn't diminish the crap feeling you have while it's happening)
So with that in mind, we decided to leave here from Upstate South Carolina around 4:30-5:00 on Wednesday, it's a 5 1/2 hour drive, but with 5 oclock traffic on i-85 and a short stop in rock hill and of course charlotte, it could be pushing a 7-8 hour drive. either which way we will be arriving around 10:30PM Wednesday-12:00AM Thursday. Anybody else gonna be riding in around this time? Think access to the field will be open or is this going to be a go hang in the local walmart till the gate opens thing?
