Cooler experience...

Depends on how much beer you have in there, doesn't it?

If this had happened to me I would tweet on the Igloo Twitter feed "Igloo capitalized on an opportunity to provide exceptional customer service..I am thankful. Look forward to purchasing my next Igloo product". It's 140 characters, I checked. Feel free to steal it.

The email didnt say anything about packaging up the 3ft x 2ft x 2.5ft cooler in the original box I have saved in my garage.......and I didn't ask.... we shall see on 9/6/17 when it arrives...


I can say that this "defective" cooler did NOT perform as expected. I had significantly less ice time than my Yeti, and they are suppose to be on par with each other. SO....if no return is required, then I now have a freezer and Refrig.

I asked b/c I have gotten replacement thermoses from Stanley and kept the old ones for lighter use. Most returns on larger items are like that. My worn-out LL Bean shirts I have to send back. There are people who buy broken Buck knives just to send them in for a new one.

But I have gotten in the habit of keeping original packaging for expensive items due to the fine print in the return policy. That, in fact, how they get you with those worthless CFL light bulbs and their 8 year guaranty. First, you have to send them back in the original box--as if you have it--with postage greater than the cost AND the receipt from the hardware store. Second, if you bought the three pack, what do you do when the second one craps out? Oh, and the "lifetime" is based on four hours a day use. So I have to get up at midnight and turn off my porch light?

mccjeff TOO $ I am liking the above thinking!!!! We can fashion a food grade spigot to the drain plug.....2 bags of ice, 1/2 dozen bottles of vodka, case of Kahlua.... and we have 55 Qts of Black Russians..... and we can re-use the marinated ice!!!

That milk will be right ripe come Sunday afternoon. A single use cooler IMO.

But just use the tall water coolers with the spigot at the bottom. A friend, back in the day, used to borrow one from work on Friday for grain punch all weekend return on Monday.

And I will always shop Igloo for marginally defective coolers and enjoy the 2 for 1 sale!

I seriously overthought my cooler situation last year. I brought 2 large coolers, a coleman exreme and a very old igloo cube.

Packed both with loose ice, homemade blocks of ice and beer/iced tea/water/gatorade.

I know it wasn't the hottest last year, but both cheap coolers made it with ice surviving from Thursday - Monday when I left

Lessons learned: 1) I'm glad I didnt buy a fancy expensive roto cooler 2) All that beer stayed cold while I was spending the majority of my time in the venue (i.e. I didn't need as much beer as I brought) and 3) I think I'm going to just bring 1 cooler this year. Less beer, same amount of water/tea/gatorade.

the one drug that was completely lacking in our experience last year was caffeine. The line for a coffee was redonculous and we don't drink sodas, so this year, there will be iced coffees. agree that we brought way too much beer the first few years, but have figured it out now. brought some bourbon one year that didn't get touched.
