welcome aboard! The configurations of the viewing areas--any of them--change every year, and the stages will likely be changed some this year from last.

I did VIP in year's 2 and 3 and found the "free" food was good, the AC tent welcome (but not that cold), and viewing areas good although I spent a lot of time with friends in GA.

In the past they also had private concerts for SVIP, usually towards the end of the headliner.

We did SVIP at L2. The meals (lunch and dinner) were quite good (but I grew up in the restaurant business and can cook as well as anything they served). Late night snacks were provided too. The best perks (to me) were the viewing area and the SVIP private shows in the tent. Back then the SVIP sets were late night so you had to pick between the Blue Ridge Bowl or the tent. Think they moved the times of those since, but we settled into the VIP mode (couldn't justify the extra $$) for L3-6. L1 we were the unwashed masses of GA.

The viewing area has changed over the years too. At L2 it was a sliver along the entire front of both stages. Later is was a smaller sliver, but there were some viewing from side stage.

I have done SVIP at every Lockn. Worth the money to me. Talks a bunch of side jobs to pay for it, but been able to swing it each year. The viewing area last year was a small area down front. From about the middle of the stage over to the right. There is a beer vendor in there so you don't have to walk far. I miss the early years when the svip area went all the way across. Now if you get in early toward the middle, it's a challenge to get out later at night. They do let small groups up on the side stage during most of the artist. Kind of cool. The viewing area at the tent last year was really nice, just far away. The sound quality was not that good from back there like prior years. I guess being in the valley changes the way sound travels.

The food is excellent to me. I've never missed a meal. The camping area is really nice. Never had any issues. There is usually security around the entrances. The only negative I can say about the camping is your friends cannot come in. The year they evacuated the field, they were pretty cool with letting people come hang that were not svip.

Do not miss the tent shows. Some of my best Lockn memories are from those shows.

Where are the Wed cocktails folks. I should be pulling in before 8:00 if the traffic in Hampton does not slow me down.

No, no, no. Nothing like that. It's cuz it's Interlocken. Dave and the other guy get... aroused by delaying relevant info. They even "book" acts they know won't show just to fork with us. Seeing people squirm is their thing. Fortunately, this year the only "cancellation" is some undercard fluff nobody's interested in anyway. 

Thanks, am I right that CID will allow you to upgrade? If I just get vip and if s.vip sets are worth it ( when announced) I could switch, or is that madness?

Yikes! I just got back from peach andI only had reserved tix... had a covered seat, but missed the vip sets. Didn’t wanna have the same regrets, but laying down 2000 more blindly for tickets is a little....

How was SVIP? Am thinking about it.... my first time this summer.
