Disappointed LockN is taking the path they are taking.. my wife and I still plan to attend this year, but imagine this will be our last LockN. This is simply a weak lineup - at premium prices. Collaborations are great, but, that is not why I buy tickets.
I expect to have plenty of room to dance this year :-)
Ticket sales this year are at all time low. Like 7-8K low from my source. I hate to say I told you so, but it ain’t looking good.

That, or the outrageous prices for this lineup. Again, hope I’m wrong but this kinda feels like it’s going to be hard to recover from.

I know they need to sell tickets, but I feel that they exceeded the max...
But yes, lots of elbow room this year, I think.
Crickets and cicadas sing... A rare and different tune...

Also I think a lot of people miss the branding advantages of Lockn. Even without being a money maker Lockn serves as extreme recognition for both Pete and Dave, especially Dave. So when he opens things like his Lynchburg venue the brand does more to fuel that locations success than consequences of what money the fest itself loses. Both investors are extremely diversified and don't need to view the Festival on stand alone merits.

We also don't really need you harshing on the excitement some here have for this festival every year by your constant doom and gloom for the festival's future at any point you see an opening. It's like you have a bat signal for attendance talk.
Also, you're absolutely trying to be a downer, otherwise you wouldn't be posting.

Heard from an extremely reliable source that Shapiro is completely done with Lockn. Frey is still the main guy but has had to join with the Floyd Fest promoters to keep the thing a float.
Same source?

“Let us have wine and woman, mirth and laughter,
Sermons and soda water the day after.
Man, being reasonable, must get drunk;
The best of life is but intoxication:
Glory, the grape, love, gold, in these are sunk
The hopes of all men, and of every nation;
Without their sap, how branchless were the trunk
Of life's strange tree, so fruitful on occasion:
But to return--Get very drunk; and when
You wake with head-ache, you shall see what then.”

i don’t know anything about Lockns financials, nor do I know how much bands charge, but I thought at the time that the talent at Lockn 2014 seemed like a budget buster for a young festival. Glad to see Lockn is still here and I wish them the best in the future.

There’s always somebody who’ll be the Debbie Downer. I know firsthand that LOCKN’ has been a profitable venture and that Shapiro is still heavily involved. They’re 7 years in...if they weren’t making money they would have called it quits several years ago. This is the best run festival on the east coast. Great venue. Clean. Superior food veniding. They do it right. And as far as the cost...if you go regular GA, it’s beyond reasonable for the product you’re getting in return. If you go VIP...well that’s your choice. But they make it very affordable for whomever wants to attend.
