I'm also tossing the flag on myself.

Love it. All set with the flat brim neighbors cranking techno till the sun comes up. Family camping at Lockn is better than VIP. Quiet and respectful. Did I say I love it

Lockn has always had that struggle of which way to trend. I’m 37, so I feel I’m in the middle of the two demographics. Not a boomer or a millennial. While we might be a target demo, my age group is too diverse taste wise to cater to. Half of us were raised on rock n roll, are children of hippie baby boomers, had tons of CD’s & smoke weed. Then half of us grew up with yuppie parents, rules, liked hip hop, grunge & alternative before we found Jam bands & got into raves & research chemicals. None of these things are mutually exclusive, just stereotypes. But it paints a picture of my generation. Most of us found the Dead & then branched off to other music & I think that we are the most open to different music & opinions. We don’t have a dog in the fight. The older crowd holds on to their youth & those bands still tour. The young crowd thinks only the last 3 years matter and can’t be contested. We just sit in the middle, and go to both shows and rage it. I think Lockn had the best set up in like 2014. They had Thursday for the younger crowd, Friday was a blend, Saturday geared older & Sunday too. They had late night heaters for the kids, Triangle stage for the chill crowd & they had late afternoon bands that were geared for the older crowd. Thursday, Friday nights & the late nights were younger & Saturday & Sunday nights along w/ the afternoon were for the older crowd. That was a good big tent festival. Not super diverse musically like Hula but still a lot of good stuff for any music lover regardless of age. Now Lockn seems to just go all in on one way or the other. I’m fine with however they go. I like the venue, the people, and the shows they throw. I could do with less cops but it’s rural Virginia, it ain’t a wook Disney Land, you gotta act right. Lockn isn’t for AARP members, it’s for people who like good music. Those people are all ages, sizes, colors, creeds & taste. Ears are blind and judge only on sound.

I guess I’m actually 38, I had a b-day in November I didn’t account for. Lol. But If that’s the case so be it, water off a ducks back. I always thought I was gen-x or whatever but times change I guess. Lol. I’m just gonna be the best millennial I can be.

I read this as “Marshall, please bang on the RV door until I wake up and join you at Ace of Cups”. Consider it done

I've known my fiance since 7th grade. We didn't date, we weren't especially good friends, but we have those common roots that branched off when we graduated from high school. When we reconnected a few years ago, he started teaching me, and now I tell people (truthfully) if someone had introduced me to the Dead as a teenager, my life would have been very different.
So for me, yes, this Lockn is about hearing Phil, since I never got to see the Dead live. But it's also about hearing everything else - where the music came from, where it's going. Keeping my mind and my ears open.
