We want to update everyone on the current state of our planning for LOCKN’ 2020. As we develop our plans to produce LOCKN’, the safety of our fans, staff, vendors, and artists remains our number one priority. Because the public health authorities are continuing to learn more about how the coronavirus spreads, the procedures for LOCKN' must be flexible to ensure we are conforming to the latest guidance and recommendations. So with the understanding that things might change, here are some of the ways we are planning to make it possible to gather together and experience live music in a safe manner this October:
FACE COVERINGS
Face masks are required to be worn by all attendees, including staff and partners. Reasonable exceptions will be made for people eating or drinking while physically distanced from others. Plan to bring new masks for each day and follow face-covering guidelines outlined by the CDC.
COVID-19 SCREENINGS
We are exploring ways to incorporate a mobile testing lab where people can take a test at the main entrance to the farm and get their result on-site quickly, prior to entering the campgrounds, as a way to minimize potential exposure. Additional health screenings will be administered each time you enter the venue, and any individual presenting COVID-19 symptoms will not be permitted to enter. This will be the case for everyone entering the Blue Ridge Bowl venue, including staff, vendors, artists, and attendees.
PHYSICALLY DISTANCED STAGE VIEWING
Our Show Field will be divided into sections, each having a limited capacity that will be filled daily on a first-come, first-served basis. Within each section, designated walkways and marked standing areas will be used to enforce physical distancing between each grouping of fans.
SIGNAGE
Signage and distancing markers will guide you on walkways throughout the campgrounds and venue, while signage and other measures will remind you of safety and health practices. Entrances and exits will be one direction only to facilitate distancing between people traveling back and forth.
MORE CAMPING SPACE
Car Camping and Tent-Only Camping space sizes will be increased and walkways will be defined throughout the campgrounds. There will be plenty of room to spread out!
GOING CASHLESS IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
Cashless transactions, using a tap of your wristband to purchase food, drink, and merchandise, are strongly encouraged to minimize cash handling at the festival. Select concession lanes will be dedicated to cash-only transactions.
ENHANCED CLEANING AND DISINFECTION MEASURES
LOCKN’ will regularly clean and disinfect shared surfaces throughout the venue and campgrounds, following CDC recommendations and best practices.
KEEP YOUR HANDS CLEAN
Increased hand sanitizing stations will be located throughout the venue and campgrounds. Frequently wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer regularly and be sure to pack a hand washing station with soap and water for your campsite.
PREPARE TO STAY FOR THE WEEKEND
To ensure the health and safety of everyone at LOCKN' 2020, we will only sell 3-Day and 3-Day + Steal Your Thursday Tickets. Once you arrive at LOCKN and pass through security and health screening checkpoints, you will not be permitted to return if you leave the property. Plan to stay for the whole weekend!
STAY HOME IF YOU'RE SICK, HAVE PRE-EXISTING CONDITIONS, OR ENCOUNTERED ANYONE WHO TESTED POSITIVE WITHIN 14 DAYS OF COMING TO LOCKN’
We are asking that patrons be responsible regarding their level of risk to themselves and others. If you have pre-existing conditions or are in a high risk age group, we urge you to stay home. If you are sick with COVID-19 or any other illness or you think you could have COVID-19, please stay home.
This list is only a snapshot of our current thinking. As we learn more over time, we will continue to update you. We are here for you and we are excited to see you again soon. If anyone can follow the House Rules and have fun at the same time, it's our LOCKN' family!

If you stay home b/c you are maybe sick, do you get your money back? Impossible to administer; look to your own travel insurance--but will it cover this?
The screening plan is nonsense, at the campground level and daily venue level. Science fiction. And who's paying for it?
I think the impossibility is the exit strategy.

So many things wrong with this. It's like they are trying to force something that shouldn't be forced at all.
I'm guessing no VIP/SVIP viewing sections as everything is 1st come 1st serve?
This isn't going to happen and as soon as Dave & Co. get their collective head out their ass, the better it will be for everyone while still maintaining whatever shred of good will they still have with most Lockn fans.

The responses when Relix shared this on Facebook were mostly in the “how irresponsible, just cancel already” category. A few “yay, can’t wait for live music” and some of the same concerns already raised here.

1/3 of a normal lockn attendance?
And it mentions the field sections will be filled on a first come first served basis, how will it work if you come late and cant get in to the show field? Will you get a refund for the day? Are you supposed to just go back and sit at camp for the day? And what if you get onto the show field but then get hungry and go get something to eat?
Soooo many questions.
