could be that TTB plans a show emphasizing a roots rock band (Allman Bros? Derek and the Dominoes? Three Dog Night?). Covers of songs 50 years old. Recreate a concert like Woodstock or Bangla Desh. A blues/rock or Muscle Shoals review. For example, look at the clip I put up under "artist additions" and Plant including "no Quarter" and "thank you." FYI...Reminder! LOCKN' promoter and co-founder Dave Frey will be on the air today at 1pm to talk about the new Blue Ridge Bowl venue and the April 18th show with Tedeschi Trucks Band. Tickets to TTB at BRB will be given away all day on WNRN in support of their Fund Drive!

Highlights from today's interview:
Blue Ridge Bowl TTB show will be unique to Lockn and along the lines of what Jack and Jorma are doing to celebrate the JA. (No more details)
Already trying to book bands for Lockn 2016.
When Robert Plant runs out of his solo stuff he is going to have to play some Zep tunes 
.
Grateful Dead (core four) will not be there together, it would overwhelm the festival (his words).
He hopes to have other members of the Dead there doing whatever they want but does not sound like they are booked yet (hard to tell). He is holding some slots open for them, says they are distracted right now
He said that the deadline to book bands for Lockn 2015 is Sept. 10
No real breaking news, didn't really expect any, but it looks like this is going to be a super special TTB show!!

So they can't print the roster-style T-shirts until Sept 10, either?
"holding slots open" means slots that would be taken by headliners, considering when they brought out Phil Lesh and Bill Kreutzman last year.

Yea thanks for the info. I had it on & heard a lot of it but had to take some sales calls & missed some. Missed the core four talk. Sounds like he would like to book them anyway he can & hope maybe some magic will happen. Plant can play all the Zep he wants. I like the way he has reworked some songs with his band. I don't want recreation of the old days, fresh.

Well Dave was not real clear on this but made it sound like the TTB show at Blue Ridge Bowl was going to be a one of a kind performance unique to Oak Ridge. He said Jack and Jorma were doing a celebration of Jefferson Airplane at Lockn and that TTB would do something similar. Let the speculation begin...thanks for posting the results. I can't see a whole lot of guest stars since they have a full--and established--band in place.
As for Plant doing Zep tunes--like Dylan's songs, they lend themselves to new interpretation. He's brought his voice down 2 octaves. And he doesn't want to be a fading "tribute to himself" act but is developing new sounds. So I am looking forward to some interesting twists.

Saw Colin Hay playing at a local record shop in my town on RSD a few years back, maybe fifty people. Solo acoustic. Played Overkill... It was really great. Back to the BRB would like to go, but the 12 hour round trip drive is gonna keep me away. That would be outstanding--do you know this or is this a wish?
It's amazing how many people under 50 don't know Mad Dogs although they recognize a lot of songs. The liner notes form the album have a great description of the efforts to put that stellar band together, and all at the last minute.
Before Joe Cocker died, and not knowing he was sick, I had on my Lockn wish list a reconstruction of MD&E. However, having seen Leon Russell lately, he has turned into a grumpy bore, so he might drag the whole thing down.
What's the word here?

That would not surprise me at all. You don't get to the point of putting on a festival & not know a lot of people. And from what he has said about his past he worked with some bands & promoters. He's a little offish in interviews, choosing his words carefully not to give away too much. After all the fund raising & music they played the interview I thought was a little short.
