What are some realistic extended trips you'd like to take?

It's fun to see other's plans and also it's a way to get information from those with particular experience.

Not talking "bucket list" or "if I won the lottery" but something within range.

Planes, trains, automobiles, boats, ships and bikes (both kinds). Too bad thumbing is no longer a thing.

Or train back from Seattle/Vancouver across Canada to Chicago via Banff.

Here is a trip that I've always wanted to take. Fly from Lynchburg to Denver (stopping in Charlotte first of course because that's the only way we can fly anywhere) because it is one boring ass drive between here and Denver, other than through Western VA and West VA. Take a train from Denver to California so we can see some sights without having to drive, stop, overnight, etc. Drive north on highway one through California, Oregon, Washington, British Columbia, the Northwest Territories and into Alaska. The original plan was to do this part by motorcycle but that ship has sailed. The last part is one long ass remote drive but I'll be retired, what else am I gonna do? At the end, fly home from Alaska. I'd be happy just flying to Denver and taking the train to California. vickie wants to go to Hawaii so we'll probably have to do that first.

Unfortunately you are correct.  I was dismayed when I realized I could find my way around easily on the trains in Germany, where I don't speak a word of German, where I struggled with American trains.

Have you ever taken a train somewhere?  If there a train station nearby?  What is the station?

It's a long ride for me but I'm interested if we get somewhere to camp and arrange a ride to the venue.

Previously, Dave Matthews Band, Warren Haynes Band, Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats and Goose, and an exceptional list of guests announced their inclusion in the Nov. 24, 2024, SOULSHINE benefit concert to aid relief and recovery efforts in Western North Carolina and Florida in the wake of Hurricanes Helene and Milton. While the multi-set event at New York’s Madison Square Garden is sold out, a global livestream will now connect folks at home with the action in the Big Apple.



Produced by Volta Media and hosted on YouTube, the livestream is sponsored by Cisco Systems and will run from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. E.T. In addition to the headlining acts, the charitable occasion will also boast appearances by Phish’s Trey Anastasio, Mavis Staples, Robert Randolph, Joe Russo, Trombone Shorty, Susan Tedeschi, Derek Trucks, and more to be announced.



SOULSHINE will occur after Dave Matthews Band concludes its Fall 2024 Tour, slated for two back-to-back sold-out concerts at Madison Square Garden on the nights leading to the benefit, Nov. 22 and 23. In effect, DMB will take part in three consecutive shows at MSG.



The event’s net proceeds will go toward the SOULSHINE Concert Fund at the Charlottesville Area Community Foundation, supporting Habitat for Humanity’s 2024 Hurricane Recovery Fund and various non-profits active in recovery efforts in North Carolina and Florida.
