Phish Halloween
Post by moon on Oct 26, 2016 7:11:30 GMT -5
We get in Friday around 3:00 and are staying at the MGM with some friends in a suite. Planning on getting a cabana Saturday during the Badger game, heading to a Packer bar for the game Sunday (and then heading to the show in our finest GB tailgating attire!), and going to see Twiddle at the Brooklyn Bowl after the Halloween show.

Nick is hoping for a real life performance of Gamehenge- acted out on the stage by performers.

Trust me, this only happened because it was a relatively healthy year for me and I didn't need to take much vacation after my sick time ran out so I have a couple extra days, and because my friend is considered a "high roller" in Vegas and was able to get a sick two bedroom suite for free.
We're flying cheaply with Southwest and got hooked up with mostly face tickets. I'll be eating at taco trucks and $7.99 buffets and maybe play some penny slots. All my money's being spent on whiskey! LOL

And the idea that the Halloween cover set will be Ziggy Stardust seems to be popular.

From what I understand, they are going to slow things down for the next few years....less touring.

We can only hope for a John Cage / Miley Cyrus mashup.

Night one was a yawner for me (they played "deep cuts" to entertain the hardcore fans), but Nick loved it. I was just a tish underwhelmed by the Bowie covers, but the strings and choir made up for it. IDK, I think they should have just covered all types of Bowie songs instead of just Ziggy Stardust (which is an acquired taste in and of itself).
Twiddle at the Brooklyn Bowl late night 10/31 was caraaaaaazyyyyyy... We bolted into a Lyft after Phish and got there about 1:30 am and the place was still empty so we got to stand right at the rail. Danced our asses off. We didn't leave until about 5:00 am. The BB is a GREAT place to see a show- holy cow. Although, security was tight and there was no "smoking" allowed; anyone who ignored that had security on them right away.
Thoughts on Vegas itself were "meh". We enjoyed visiting all of the different casinos and landmarks, but it's just like a big giant shopping mall (and not unlike Times Square), so for people who don't really care for extravagant material possessions or gambling (although we did play some slots) there wasn't much for us.
Missed out on Freemont St, but will visit there when we (HOPEFULLY) come back for Ween at the BB in February. If you can make it, I highly encourage any Ween fans to catch their 3 night run there. At such an intimate venue, the shows are guaranteed to be brown af.

John Mayer who was dressed as a unicorn and riding the rail. Location determined based on his Snapchat post, which I saw earlier. He's weird.
Our view.

Not sure what to think about this one. Odd yet humorous.
