Welcome to the Lockn' Forum - The home of the original Lockn' Music Festival family!
Charlie Pastorfield! I think for the question to work we have to disregard the "frequent flyers" from our college or early local bar days. Seven years in college got me too many multiples, including Doug Clark, the Drifters, etc. and bar bands at the Beach like Bryce Street and Smee II. And I think you have to not count multiples of bands that just play everywhere (here, it's the Rhondels iterations and Lewis McGee). But I probably have 15 DMB shows as it is an annual event for my friends here at VaB. I liked them at first and have grown to like them the more I see them. My second band (again, just a guess) would likely be the Grateful Dead. I only saw them ~15 times or so. I would have a bunch of bands in the 10-15 range as well, but I couldn't do much more than guess at an approximation for most of them.

We also used to see The Good Guys around town a lot (they played something like Ska). Indecision, too.
Remember Awareness Art Ensemble? (AAE). So them a lot too.

Damn, I didn't even think of DMB either. I saw them a bunch of times. I mean they are probably at least in the 15 times range, but possibly they are my second most seen band. Most of those were $5 shows at Trax on Tuesday night, many years ago. Even at the time I was not a huge DMB fan but they were available and it was fun.
For that matter I have surely seen Boyd Tinsley Band and Charlie Pastorfield Blues Band at least 10 times each. Going back to college days opens up this question a lot.
Nobody comes close to Yarn still as I wasn't a big groupie of any of these bands and didn't particularly follow them around, they were just popular bands who played around town a lot and I liked and ended up seeing a bunch of times.

Man, that takes me back. Def saw my share of DMB, I followed Indecision around VA and caught AAE quite a few times. Phish played the Flood Zone once or twice. Kinda lost interest when it became Have A Nice Day cafe.

Now, I much prefer the smaller venues (Norva) and bands that fit to the big venues and big prices. Thus Robert Earl Keen may be my biggest multiple of post-school bands.
It's interesting when I see an artist now in the small halls that I saw back in the day at the big venues--including both Leon Russell and Joe Cocker.
Get them on the way up, or on the way down.

Also seems like the Amphitheater has really degraded the last few years. The sound on the lawn is pitiful. They used to reinforce it with speakers around the back. Now, nothing. Also kind of surprised they haven't fixed the muddy mess on the sides near the top. I slipped and busted my ass one evening. Surprised because this place is run by insurance companies...D0h!

I focus on the horns on the right side. That's the real jazz section that carries the jams. Tim fills in nicely. Carter is other-wordly and plays way more music than any drummer.
I also enjoy the lights; I know the light guy from growing up.

Have an interesting story for that trip. But it's no good in print. If you see me IRL, and remember, remind me to tell that one.
