* Entry level pricing for a three ticket bundle, translation - cheap seats with limited view scape, increased by $100 in less than 24 hours. Today those tickets are $436 more than originally advertised. I do not like this new model.
* Sixteen years ago entry level Elton John tickets were $125 each night (still have my tic stubs) with lots of options at higher levels. Offered only as a point of comparison.

They have also demonstrated their love for playing and ability to be successful at it. I think they have satisfied any perceived obligation to the fans. I can in mind hearing Bob say how cool would that be and John replies pretty cool and Irving saying way cool 😎

Air Fares are cheap to Vegas because of the high volume to that destination year round, so even if I can't get a flight with no cancellation fees, a last minute flight would probably not be out of the question.
I can make a reservation at a reasonable rate now with no cancellation fees.
So I will wait and watch - if things hit the right price point I would like to go see what that there Sphere thingy is all about.
Anyone else thinking along these lines???
I think picking a weekend now would be the thing to do if you feel like hanging with friends there...

I'm with you, we were talking about this last night. What if it's not about the money? What if, and I know this is a stretch, Bob really likes to play music for us and the chance to play in the coolest most advanced venue in the world is too good to pass up? You know Johnny Slayer is on board. Jeff, Jay, Mickey, and Oteil said shit, you're not leaving us behind.
I've almost talked myself into a Vegas trip...

Priceline.com - Room at Harrah's & Delta Flight from DC: $1027
1 ticket for each night: 551 + 368 + 905 (200 level) right now. (TicketMaster site)
I think ticket prices will drop or at least there will be cheaper tickets on Cash or Trade, etc...
Too high for my taste right now.

1.) It’s only a “cash grab” if the music is secondary to the “bottom line” and they put out a subpar product. Based off the last three summer tours, I don’t see the product being “watered down” or getting worse… it’s getting better.
2.) Price… it’s is expensive, basically a “Playing In The Sand” without the all inclusive resort. It’s not anymore than traveling to see other shows but if you’re someone who only sees shows at your home venue then it can seem over priced. I travel to Colorado several times a year & always go someplace for NYE and do festivals so I don’t feel it’s all that overpriced.
3.) The Venue… I think people are getting a little worked up over it & jizzing themselves like 13 year old boys with an old Montgomery Ward Lingerie Catalog. Is it cool… yes, will be visually stunning yes… but I’ve seen other cool shit and this ain’t gonna blow that outta the water. Be it, Tipper with Android Jones or Singer, the stuff Cheese did with the 3D glasses & light up bracelets for NYE or their old ritual sets at Horning’s with all the live action stuff to the installations at Spirit Lake to Sherwood Forest, there’s always been something out there pushing the envelope.
4.) The expierence will be anchored by the music & not the venue. If the music is good then the shows will be good, if it’s not rehearsed & thrown together then the experience will suffer.
5.) Personally I think Vegas is a bad place for them and something down to placate their “corporate interests”. By playing there it helps them with future MSG gigs & keeps their Live Nation masters happy. I’d rather have seen them post up at Lockn’s site, Suwannee or The Double JJ and do two 4 Day weekends in a row with Mon-Wed off in between.
6.) I’m glad there’ll be shows this summer, I doubt I go. I’m already going to Vegas for The Bender Jamboree Festival in September and I’ll be going to Colorado for Cheese & Panic weekends at Red Rocks, plus multiple Goose & Billy Strings shows and Phish… so most of my time & budget is going elsewhere. I think the shows will be successful & good musically and I’m glad that people will get to enjoy another summer of Dead Music, I’m just gonna have to pass on it.

I read an article earlier this week that Wendy's is adopting a dynamic pricing model for its restaurants. Throughout the day as line length and inventory change so goes pricing.
I think we should start a dynamic payment model! When you get to checkout pay only what you think it's worth. If the buying experience was cumbersome or frustrating it should be $0.00.

ETA Wendy's CEO now says they are not going to try "surge pricing" and there was a great backlash over the suggestion. The new computerized menu boards may alter prices, such as offering discounts during slow times.
Is that the same thing? One could correctly argue that it is. Or isn't it the same as a bar "happy hour" and a restaurant "early bird special"? Wine discounts on Tuesdays? Many Asian restaurants' menus are the same for lunch and dinner but with a mark-up at dinner for the same food (and when they make more money due to drink sales). Or is that a mark-down for lunch?

Superstar rock band U2 opened the spectacular Las Vegas Sphere on Sept. 29, 2023, for its U2/UV Achtung Baby Live at the Sphere residency with such great interest and excitement that the first show was attended by music greats Paul McCartney, Jon Bon Jovi, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg and Katy Perry.
U2 originally planned a 25-show residency, which it later expanded to 36 shows and was scheduled to conclude on Feb. 18. The band kept selling out shows and decided to extend the residency, adding four final shows on the residency for an even 40 dates.
Demand for tickets to see U2 at Sphere Entertainment's (SPHR) Sphere has been high, as the shows sold out quickly in presales or shortly afterward on Ticketmaster.com. Those who were unable to secure tickets from Ticketmaster had to turn to secondary market ticket sellers and much higher prices than the original seller.
After five months of performing shows on its U2/UV Achtung Baby Live at the Sphere residency on the Las Vegas Strip, legendary rock band U2 is closing down its 40-show run with its two final performances on March 1-2.
The lowest price for one of the few remaining verified resale tickets on Ticketmaster's website on Feb. 27 was about $1,073 for the March 1 show and $1,001 for the lowest priced ticket for the March 2 show. Otherwise, buyers can try their luck with a number of ticket brokers selling on the secondary market.

So it will be interesting to see at the end how varied the set lists are once DeadCo wraps up. I'd expect different songs during a weekend, but the following weekend may be lather/rinse/repeat.
