Welcome to the Lockn' Forum - The home of the original Lockn' Music Festival family!
"I'll even tell you I love you if you want me to"/ Anyway I liked having the OCMS there. They are just fun and high energy regardless of what a purist might say--I think the fact that I was a bit disappointed in an album and liked the show says a lot about what they have going on. A lot more fun than the Avetts! Theuy followed PPPP well. One of the cool aspects of the Layla set was that the band used the "three guitar attack" made famous by Lynnard Skynnard and used unfailingly by Drive By Truckers to give not a wall of sound--that's in the back--but full frontal of multiple lead guitars, instead of the common-place lead/rhythm alternates. So constantly, there was Doyle, Derek and Trey, each with a different lead style, going at the same time (Doyle may have been more rhythm). But those times Susan picked her guitar and made it a "four guitar attack" that bowled me over. Go back to the clips and focus on the four leads. Listening to the album version of the song Layla, I've always tried to pick out Duane and Eric--after all, the band was just 5 pieces. So where's all that sound coming from? Here: "The recording of the first section consisted of sixteen tracks of which six were guitar tracks: a rhythm track by Clapton, three tracks of harmonies played by Clapton (the main power chord riff on both channels and two harmonies against that main riff, one on the left channel and one on the right channel), a track of solos by Allman (fretted solos with bent notes during the verses and a slide solo during the outro[18]), and one track with both Allman and Clapton playing duplicate solos (the 7-note "signature" riff doubled in two octaves and the 12-note "signature" riff doubled in unison).[15][19] According to Clapton, Allman played the first seven notes of the 12-note "signature" riff fretted and the last five notes on slide in standard tuning.[18] Each player used one input of the same two-input Fender Champ amplifier.[20] " ""Layla's" second movement (the "Piano Exit") was recorded roughly a week after the first, with Gordon playing his piano part, Clapton playing acoustic guitar and slide guitar, and Allman playing electric and bottleneck slide guitar" So as Clapton noted, this is a very hard song to play live (absent Keller's Lap-Top-Loop technique) and when D and the D's went on the road, it was without Duane. "'Layla' is a difficult one, because it's a difficult song to perform live. You have to have a good complement of musicians to get all of the ingredients going, but when you've got that. ... It's difficult to do as a quartet, for instance, because there are some parts you have to play and sing completely opposing lines, which is almost impossible to do." Of course they had a lot of Filler Saturday night with the large band--but that in no way takes away from what they accomplished there. Definitely one of my favs....I was in awe..... Like a beer can, recycled from last year! The Canned Craft Beer Tasting and Exchange occurs as part of the Friday Meet and Greet. Participation is optional. *I think my tent site this year will be close to the entrance, too, so you are welcome to stash there before, or after, but the evaporation can be pretty strong there. "Sending lettuce by rabbit" as my grandmother would say. Please note: This forum is in no way officially associated with Lockn' Festival or its promoters.

I could host an early gathering in the Forest to be out of the sun, but that could be a logistical problem with the Forest being a bit of a walk from the GA camping and the show field and me having no infrastructure (tables, chairs, etc...)
I think this is the way to go: "Maybe pregame cocktails before first show tomorrow night and then drinks, snacks Saturday. Time TBD."
Are you activating the group Bat-Text machine?
I am coming in on Saturday am to car camping.I don’t feel comfortable hosting because I will only have a small easy up.I would like to help by bringing a peach galette made with fresh peaches ! Could it be around 3-4 or is that too late?

Dean Sottile Ok, before everyone feels high and mighty about throwing rocks, the folks at Lockn are working with HHS on the plan and strategy. It would most likely require their approval. Ultimately, they would like to have a statement from Fauci. It might not be as far fetched as you think. If you see it happen, you can apologize later...

They have a back entrance for Rv that takes you well off 29.Many Rv’s come in Wednesday for Early Entry and really helps with the line .With a short Thursday show There May be less people coming in Wednesday and Some May wait til Friday so I think you will be good any time .You may be in line 1-2 hours for security or if you line up early you will wait til they start processing.I would think 12 would be a good time but do what’s convenient.Just plan on a bit of a wait but not unbearable like the 7 hours 4 yrs ago.Early entry has changed all that.

I spoke to Rob Barraco last night (keyboard for DSO, played with The Dead and lots with Phil including Philtana).
He said he will be there playing with Phil and Friends. I asked about the rest of the DSO and he said they may do a Jerry Garcia thing.
Of course, nothing's real until its on stage but this seems logical.I saw him playing Thursday with DSO and he was great.really looking forward to seeing him again.

From discussions here at L2 before the fest about good canned craft beer to bring generally, due to the no-glass rule, it was apparent that good beer was coming in from all over the country, so yours truly suggested we have a trading post of sorts when we got together. The concept is to bring about six beers, drink two or three and take home three or four of something you didn't bring. YMMV.
Also, since it's fun to try different beers without taking off with a whole can, we have tasting cups so we can try more and share more. The hyperorganized could set up flights even.
There may be a couple of large coolers there to consolidate in or set up a mixed cooler with your fellow travelers.
Many like to bring something that represents their home town. Some bring home brew (SS growler). My local will make a "crowler" a 24oz can made on site from the tap. I find it useful to tear off a label from a carton and put it with your wares so folks can see what it is.
But no one should feel like they have to dump in a six as a cover charge; those who bring extras do so because they enjoy sharing, so come without and enjoy! You just wouldn't have toting privileges at the end.
Since you can't take your exchanged beer into the venue, you may have to stash your cooler to get later; put your name on it. The location is close to the entrance*. Also note that those coming down from High Field can't cross the show field, if it's even open, with beer so go around.
I manage to take my exchanged beer home and later, when I drink it, fondly recall the pleasant repast with all the friends I see at Lockn'.
So--what are you bringing?
