There are very few....Can anybody recommend RV rentals in the area? 
There is one in Amherst, they rent pop-ups and 1 hybrid trailer (but I have the trailer rented/reserved), Lynchburg has 1 rental place with 2 RVs, El Monte in Roanoke, Richmond has 2 rental firms.... Beyond that there are few.

If you are considering renting an rv locally you need to reserve it today. And I would not bet on the availability of anything local even however many months out we are. They sell out in Raleigh and we are 180 miles away. Keep in mind that in the south, which we are, rv rent out to folks for college football tailgating more than they do for festivals or vacations that time of year.

Dixie Rv in Newport News rents them. 2 hour drive or so. If you are military or retired military, Ft Eustis MWR rents them cheap. I agree to reserve early, this weekend is also the Richmond Nascar weekend.
