so you're saying it worked better than that ghetto ass setup you guys had at DSO? lolI just got one of those spiffy umbrella chairs and tried it out at A Bear's Picnic this past weekend. It was a godsend. I would have preferred a little more flexibility in ability to adjust angle of the shade, but it was awesome to have at least some shade without having to hold an umbrella. And I think I'll add some bandannas to the sides to increase my shade coverage. I really liked that when the sun went down it was easy to put the shade canopy down, and the whole thing folds up really easily into the size of a regular bag chair.

You need to check out the Wal Marts. We slept in the lot of the Madison Heights Wal Mart the first year. Last year they let us buy stuff then kicked us out of the lot. So we went to the Forest Plaza one and they were cool. I just looked and both now say no overnight in the lot. Same goes for the other one in town.
Hey! I live in Shelby, just down the road from y'all. Last year we drove up Thursday morning, we left about 5 am and got there a little before noon. It's not too bad of a drive even if you wanted to leave a little earlier. We camped in forest camping and to be honest the earlier you get there the better off you'll be. It wouldn't be too bad to drive straight up after work and crash at the local wal mart or in line possibly...Hello everyone!
Boyfriend and I have been trying to figure our plans
Does any one know when the camping/car camping grounds open to start setting up, live in charlotte, NC and im trying to figure out when to leave from here to get there in time to set up relax before bands go on. Not sure if I should take wednesday-monday off from work or just Thursday-Monday

Staying at Wintergreen is an awesome idea BUT... I wouldn't try playing the "We are too old to camp" card unless you are SERIOUSLY OLD. And no, 50 + is not old yet. Good number of us on here have a hard time remembering when we were only 50. Like I said, staying at Wintergreen is a great idea. Most importantly, my bride doesn't do primitive camping, period. But, since going to Lockn' was HER idea (caught me completely off guard! I never thought she'd do a multi-day fest), I will overlook that character flaw.

Smart man, there. Camping x 4 days + no sleep does not a happy wife make. And while good conditions all around can make camping easy, it doesn't take much of a "challenge" such as from weather, neighbors, facility failure, to make it more work than fun.
And you'd be worried--or working--the whole time to ensure her comfort and happiness, draining yours. BTDT.

No matter what the weather is forecasting - rain OR heat/humidity - if you have room bring at least 2 complete changes of clothes for each day. AND a big jug of baby powder!!! Changing your undergarments and tshirts at about 5 into dry ones, getting ready for the evening bands - is freaking wonderful!!!! Especially for the +50 y.o. crowd...

I'm with you on that Sandune, or I should say my wife is. She doesn't go but she packs so much extra stuff foe me I bring home as much clean clothes as dirty. And at 59 yes it's great to change after a day in the hot sun, hopefully not wet clothes.

This solves my "skirt-chub rub" problems. The less you have on under your skirt the cooler, and using the portos is better if there's nothing to hit the floor.

Hello everyone!
Boyfriend and I have been trying to figure our plans

We arrive wenesday night and wait overnight inline fastest way in and quick set up. So faster way to the music

This is great news! Just went to GOTVibes and the atmosphere was worth the ticket alone. Heard about LOCKN there and hoped for more of the same vibe. Sounds like it'll happen. Looking forward to the hug! Yeah!
