Can't say I know alot of these names, but the ones I do seem to be solid. I've been wanting to go to this Fest as well for a long time and think this is the year. Thoughts?

Among the unknowns, Erin and the Wildfire played Lockn last year, as a winner of the Rockn to Lockn contest. Bar band from Richmond; good vocals on the front. I think she was joined by either Grace or Susan T for a song or two.
Interesting that Bruce Hornsby isn't playing with his Stringdusters?
Hiatt/Lovett will be nice.
Don't know the others except the obvious ones up top.

Sort of.
What I was thinking was from Bruce playing on the 'dusters' hit single "Road to Boulder"--he played accordion. The airplay here when I heard that song (with great references to Virginia) was on a radio station Bruce owns, so they announced the song as by "the infamous stringdusters with Bruce Hornsby." I had assumed he was with them frequently as he is with the Noisemakers; I stand corrected and educated!

Awesome fest. We went for 3 years in a row. Not the strongest lineup they've had but the camping in early Oct and the overall vibe make it well worth while.

I went last year and enjoyed it, but unfortunately it's the same weekend as another festival I like in NC--Shakori Hills. Rubblebucket will be at Shakori and I like them so I'll be at that fest instead. Last year it was the Festy because Anders Osborne was there--seems like I have alternated between them the last 4 years. The "host band" at the Festy is the Infamous Stringdusters who are good, and the "host band" of Shakori is Donna the Buffalo, who are great!

I lived 90 minutes from Ithaca most of my life and never once went to Grassroots, the fest that Donna the Buffalo host. Isn't that terrible?[T]he "host band" of Shakori is Donna the Buffalo, who are great!

So Finger Lakes GrassRoots Festival, Shakori Hill GrassRoots Festival (Spring & Fall) and Virginia Key GrassRoots Festival are all related. It's pretty cool that they bring roots music from all three regions together for a fest in all three places. You get to see some really cool regional music that you normally wouldn't get to see.

WHOA!!! I have to take exception to this. Everyone dances to a different beat but to classify Donna (who I really like) as great and the Infamous Stringdusters as merely good is just not right.
Jeb and Tara are awesome and Jeb writes great music. They are a great feel good dance around and have fun band. So saying they are great is not inaccurate.
But the Stringdusters are next level music. I don't put all that much stock into awards but they are Grammy nominated, IBMA winners and individually musicians of the year winners on their instruments. They are the most traditional of the current batch of string bands out there (Greensky, YMSB, RRE, TbT, etc) and at the same time they can be the most darkly psychedelic of the batch too. Saying they are good, while again not inaccurate, falls well short of the mark.
I actually prefer a festival that they both play at.

Of course, music being a subjective matter, your mileage may vary. I am not a HUGE bluegrass fan and although the 'Dusters aren't pure bluegrass, I simply prefer DTB. I guess I should have qualified my claim with "In my opinion"...WHOA!!! I have to take exception to this. Everyone dances to a different beat but to classify Donna (who I really like) as great and the Infamous Stringdusters as merely good is just not right.

Last year I went GA and the parking was only about 50 feet from my tent--the parking was in the middle of the field and most people camped around the edges of the field. That map is kinda nebulous so it's hard to tell, but no one was very far from their cars last year.
