what I like about Ringo releases is that he is not afraid to be himself.  Most of his solo stuff is pure fluff and sometime all you need is...fluff.

Anthony Hannigan is a NEPA legend, and is something of a mentor to all the Scranton-area acoustic bands, including Cabinet. Hickory Project was his band back in the day and their version of Whiskey Before Breakfast was always a good time. Anthony plays mandolin on this track, although it's a bit over-shadowed by Dave Cavage's (who can play any style known to man) banjo and the late Sue Cunningham's (who studied under Vasser Clements) fiddle. It's a banjo and fiddle tune, after all.



When I was growing up in the mountains, if you wanted grass, the music or the substance, these were about the only cats you could get it from. Why this wasn't a smash hit is a something of a mystery, although it may have something to do with the songwriter's having crawled inside a bottle one day and never come back. My sig is taken from its lyrics, and my new goal in life is to get every grass band I know to start covering it.
