Is It Me? (Wanee Related)

Good advice, Sneake, and I intend to adhere to it completely. And if others' dislike of the line-up keeps them away, then that's just more dancin' room for me. If standing almost still and swaying to the music and nodding my head to the beat counts as dancin'.

It is an awesome lineup and you will have a LARGE time.

The Wanee forum dissapointment is because they all formed primarily because they were first and foremost ABB fans. No ABB = no love for a lot of them. Jerry could come back with Janis and Jimi and they would still be haters because of no ABB. <Slight exageration for dramatic effect> Please don't get me wrong. I have many friends on that board and they are lovely people and have wide and varied musical tastes. But like I said the group mind there is ABB based. There were literally complaints that Furthur brought the wrong kind of crowd in 2012. But they really are cool. Hang out some at the Wanee forum and by the time the fest gets here you will probably know some people well enough to camp with if you want.

Having said that, you should absolutely go. It is one of the finest music/camping experiences you can find. The campground is spectacular with all the live oaks and Spanish moss dripping out of them. (Sometimes you wonder why a place is called what it's called. Not the case with Live Oak, FL where Spirit of the Suwanee Music Park is located.) The weather is better than wherever you are coming from unless it is further south in FL. (It will rain so be prepared.) The crowd, despite their ABB affliction is really great. Many many kind people to camp with. The second stage (Mushroom Stage is what it is called at Wanee) is a magical place. You can have camp fires. You can bring glass bottles. You can bring golf carts. You can car camp wherever you want to as long as it's not a numbered camping spot with electricity and/or water hookups. I suggest going on Wednesday for the pre party.

Ands again "2 nights of WSP, 2 nights of Umphrey's, Gov't Mule, Warren's Ashes & Dust Band, a crapload of Allman off-shoots, Hornsby, Billy & The Kids, Hot Tuna w/ Kimock" is seriously kick ass. (Sneake isn't impressed but he has issues.) Make sure you go check out BIG Something. You can thank me later.

If the "tentative" takes a positive upswing, let me know. Perhaps we can get a caravan going if our paths of travel intersect at any point (I'll be heading down from Raleigh-ish).

Jeff is right. By far my favorite venue. Make friends with the locals/regulars and prepare yourself for a good time, and by that I mean there is always a party happening somewhere for about 10 days.

Lookin' more and more likely I can go all the time. The biggest problem is driving the 15-16 hours (and that's straight through), since there's simply no way Sue can go.

Now if I can just convince sneake that he's not as poor as he thinks he is, or maybe convince one of you nice Raleigh(ish) folks to help a 'head out with some crash space on the way down and back...

So if I just show up on Wed, I'm gonna get a less than ideal camping space? I really need to join the Wanee forum...

Raleigh just happens to be about halfway. That would be awesome if you could. I don't take up a lot of space, and will, of course, have camping gear.
