Car camped all 3 years. No double parking. Can't remember past last year, but I think I was out by 10 or so and spent an hour or two in line getting out. Between 7 and 8AM is the school traffic shutoff.

I ALWAYS recommend booking the flight as late in the day as is reasonable to get home to your destination. That means no morning flights.....I like 3-5PM departures, or better yet, Tuesday morning. Too many opportunities for things going wrong and missing the flight. Been there, done that.

Like so many things Lockn, it varies from year to year and with the configurations, so you have to build in flexibility in all you do. One year the RV people got hung up for about 4 hours getting out. One years cars were an hour. last year, no wait to get out at mid-morning. Early seems to be worst.

This year, will there be a bus black-out, or not?

With the date change it will eliminate the backup due to the school buses. (As school will not have begun yet)

Well ain't that a kick in the pants. Didn't realize that Nelson County started so early.

They do already give them Thursday off for Lockn'.  First year they gave them Thursday and Friday.

definitely early for school, not too hot, just too nice to be inside. forget the boogeyman and uncle pervo. i hope they die.

You're right. A/C in the south in Aug & Sept is totally superfluous. Just like heat in the schools in PA. I mean, bundle up buttercup.

I'm an open-windows fresh air guy. I also appreciate the old buildings that were designed for that. But the modern buildings are not, so some form of HVAC has to run all the time. Shame.

The same issue arises in the college dorms--in the old buildings, you opened the window for the few warm days in September and May. Now the precious ones all have to have window units for those couple of weeks, unless they are in the new, or remodeled, buildings with sealed windows and pumped-in air.

Academically, I have to say my best school-time daydreaming was done with the windows open. And many fond school memories come from people, including professors, throwing things (including themselves) out open windows.

Nostalgia just ain't what it used to be.
