Tent only camping question

Actually, there were painted areas/camp sites marked off, but last year there were many extra sites, so some campers did spread out. Time will tell on the set up for this year.

you can also combine "squares" with others (as long as they, too, have a pass) which is why you want to arrive en convoy with your friends. However, I think the parking people might accommodate a later arrival if you're cool about it and they aren't too far behind.

Where I was (VIP car camping) there were 4 "squares" together and an aisle about 5' wide between groups, and also a road path about 15-20' (?) wide. Once everyone is in, no one is driving, so you can set up right to the edge.

You might get lucky and have an empty space beside you. I had lots of extra room at L2 but at L3 it seemed they oversold and set people up in the road right in front of me. Got a little cozy. Luckily everyone in my area was cool and no one played recorded music.

Also, in the past the tent only parking has not been far at all from the camp sites. We use a heavy duty "wagon" to load our stuff to make transporting from the car easier/more efficient. Sometimes you can park temporarily near the camping spot & unload, but to be considerate of others arriving it's not cool to take long to do that. During the weekend there's no problem making trips to the car to get to supplies if necessary.

Propane stoves and grills are allowed in the camping areas as long as they are running on the small Coleman canisters.  No giant propane tanks unless they are built into your RV.

I'd be lost without my late night grilled cheese!

1. No.  GA tent camping has never sold out and I don't expect it will this year either.
2. I think you'll be ok.  I think they keep the camping entry gates manned overnight, so you should be able to come in late and be fine.

One thing about Lockn is there are a lot of long hikes and at night they are dark and confusing. The general lay-out is like a long rectangle, with the stage at one end. I can't compare to other festivals, but it seemed like a lot of hiking for an event of that size.

Then especially last year, a crazy maze of fences and gates made the walks even longer, or eliminated short-cuts from one area to another.

I know others found, as I did, that you typically made one trek to the stage for the day, and stayed there; not much back-and-forth to hang out at the campsite or take a break, fix some food, etc.

Also the lay-out has changed in the last 2 years and probably will again, so you won't know until you get the new maps.

Maybe 10-15 minutes last year.  Shorter the year before, but they moved the entrance and you had to walk-around the entire area last year.

You can kind of hear the bands from tent-only.  I mean, you can hear that there is music going on but you can't really sit there and listen to the set.

It will be my second trip to Arrington this year and I'm still trying to figure out the shade vs. distance to venue puzzle before buying my camping pass. This years map would help but I'll have to pull the trigger before it is released. Any word on Wednesday early entry?

Last year I got to tent only camping on Friday and there seemed to be a good amount of space left over. Me and my friend setup wherever we wanted.
Am going in Thursday this year - if we have a pass and three of us are riding together and the fourth is meeting us he can just walk through the main gate over to our spot, right?

Also, FWIW, once you get in the gate, I have never seen anybody checking anything in the tent-only camping. So, one tent, four people, I'm not gonna say its OK to disregard, but as long as you follow the No-asshole rule I think you are OK.

We've never had the tent tag anywhere, so they couldn't have checked us. I mean, it was back at the truck.
