180 Degrees South: Conquerors of the Useless, or simply 180° South, is a 2010 documentary directed by Chris Malloy that covers the journey of Jeff Johnson as he travels from Ventura, California to Patagonia, Chile retracing the 1968 trip that Yvon Chouinard and Doug Tompkins took in their Ford E-Series Econoline Van. After finding footage of the 1968 expedition, Johnson decided to make climbing the Corcovado Volcano in Patagonia as his life goal and, after speaking to Chouinard and Tompkins, planned his own journey.



Yvon Chouinard is probably most qualified to be called the patron saint of dirtbags, having been one of the originals himself in Yosemite during the 1960s, at one point eating cat food to get through a season on very little money. Then he started Chouinard Equipment, and then Patagonia, and found himself becoming a CEO, author (Let My People Go Surfing: The Education of a Reluctant Businessman, 2005), and movie star (180 South, 2010). Some might even think of him as a philosopher because of his eminent ability to produce pithy quotes on a very regular basis, in his books, in movies, or during interviews.

No. That would be like putting the last page of the book in the front. Think of each thread as a book and each post as a page. It doesn't make any sense if they are out of order. How confusing would it be for someone who is reading a thread for the first time to have the last posts at the top?

I wondered how different people read through the board. Because I am here often enough I always go to Recent Posts. Others probably start at the home page and find a topic that interests them or starts one of their own.

I get your point. However, if you have a Kindle, it puts you where you left off, not at chapter 1 and then you have to click onto chapter 19 and then scroll down to your current page. I do think most people that are on this forum have kept up to date and are not starting from the beginning. Let the newbies scroll. They are scum anyways. (JK)
