Big news from LOCKN! LOCKN’ 2017 is almost upon us and we could not be more excited to see you all. We’re psyched to announce some additions and changes that we feel will harmonize and elevate the experience as a whole. We'll be on Facebook Live with Dave Frey at 2PM today to answer your questions. We're shifting things around a bit and making Infinity Downs Farm the heart of LOCKN’. This means both the main stage and the Blue Ridge Bowl natural amphitheater are embedded in the center of the festival, so you can spend less time walking between stages and more time dancing to your favorite bands.

The new and improved layout means shorter trips to your campsites, additional shade and misting stations, and superior traffic flow possible for entering the festival. Please read this letter explaining the new layout-->> loc.kn/44

MUSIC ANNOUNCEMENT ALERT! We all have been eagerly awaiting.. Drum roll please... Additional artists and collaborations set to take place at this year's LOCKN'! Collaborations include The Avett Brothers with Bob Weir, Gov't Mule with special guest Ann Wilson of Heart, Phil Lesh w/ Bob Weir & The Terrapin Family Band w/ Nicki Bluhm, and Moonalice with special guest Jorma Kaukonen!

Garcia's Forest has been expanded and, among other things, will feature a replica of Terrapin Station. The Porch at Terrapin Station will host unique nightly performances including Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Midnight North, and Nicole Atkins Band. “Piano On The Porch” morning presentations will highlight Melvin Seals, Holly Bowling, Danny Louis, and others. Additionally, Garcia’s Forest will present a range of activities to awaken your spirit including daily yoga and more.

And finally, to help ease your entry into the Festival Grounds, a limited number of GA RV Camping Pass holders (4-day only) and VIP & Super VIP patrons will be allowed early entry to the campgrounds on Wednesday, August 23, between 4PM and 8PM EDT. See more details here: loc.kn/44

the map is confusing; looks we are off the race track completely?

The map isnt rotated as in years past. Towards the left of this years map, you can see the bottom part of the oval that VIP camping surrounds. I had to print it out and twist it to line up with last years map for comparison.

Yes and no.  Given that BRB is fenced in and they have been serving beer inside the fence, it now meets the ABCs definition of a bar, and ABC says you cannot bring beer in a bar.  just like the old main field (RIP).

This is really bad. The more relaxed late night stage was a lot of fun. And they can't sell beer that late, so what's with that?  Looks like a lot less fun.
 

They can't get that kind of permit since the whole place is outdoors, and they do events, not a permanent place. Broadberry is indoors, too, but their permit is different because they are only open for events.

For the typical license of that type, the cut-off is either 1/2 hours before closing, or 1:00 AM, whichever is shorter. 

No byob at the late night.

Says the new physical space is larger....I'm not sure of that, but that is the claim.
