Wish I knew. I cant even stop a trustafarrian's mooching from grandma, let alone tweaks.is there any way to stop a meth tweaker and their equally tweaked out boy friend from stealing from their sick grandmother? There's the legal way, and there's the effective way. And it's hard to jump in on the former unless you are close family. Plus anything you do to show that Grandma can't make her own decisions sends her down a rough path as well, so you have to be very circumspect about how you play it. Once that wheel starts turning....

Maybe start by removing any valuables from Grandma's house and lock them up in a safe deposit box or storage unit. If there is nothing there to steal they won't hang around long. Next buy a copy of Get Even: The Complete Book of Dirty Tricks www.amazon.com/Get-Even-Complete-Dirty-Tricks/dp/0873641868. If none of that works buy some bear traps.

My gut tells me to put the tweeker right by the speaker, they never seem to get enough.

I'm sorry, that sucks. Same thing had happened when I went back to Texas to bury my self-disabling dad. I agree the dark arts are probably in order if there is enough left worth protecting.

Sorry, not a pleasant subject and kill the thread if it is too negative. It's not even Pam or my grandma. It's her aunt and her cousins kid that are the players in this story. Removing valuables from her house? Like her shitty tv and sofa and cancer meds? While she was in the hospital they showed up with a truck. Luckily another one of Pam's cousins was there. I understand that addiction is a disease but I'm not feeling very charitable towards these fucks. I think blunt force trauma is a better solution.

As someone with extensive experience with this sort of thing, all you can do is press charges.
Every. Time.
And they will steal anything. First it's a few pills, then it's the big valuable items, then it will be the vacuum cleaner, the modest china, a DVD player. Anything to get $5. Install cheap surveillance cameras at all entrances that record to server.
Tell grandparent that you will press charges on their behalf if they make excuses out of fear of making trouble. Police will usually allow that or get an advocate to help them understand why it is important to press charges.
Grandparents are notorious for providing "safe spaces" for addicts to fall back on, and provide forgiveness, showers, and meals.
And make it clear, in no uncertain terms that there are no terms or second chances (how you choose to make that clear is up to you), and that you will be watching and following up every single day. You are on to them, and will make sure everyone else is too.

Someone may have to be made grandma's guardian also, under the guise of elder abuse (which this is). Be prepared to go to family court. She may be giving permission for these things to happen.

Sorry to hear about your vermin problem. I have witnessed numerous friends succumb to drug addiction over the years and a very close friend lost her great job,beautiful house, and custody of her children do to meth.I will spare you any other stories but would like to offer a word of warning.
Some of the laziest and least intelligent, some borderline retarded, people that I have ever met were transformed into the most clever motivated dirtbags on the planet by addiction. Be careful of your actions because making desperate people even more desperate may have undesirable consequences.

So sorry for Pam's aunt. She's fortunate to have you in her corner. I really hate the abuse that some elderly are exposed to. It's incomprehensible to me how someone can be so heartless to seniors regardless of the motive.
