No one understands that a long line of stopped cars in a turn lane next to an empty lane is inefficient; better to fill both lanes and then alternate (zipper) merge at the merge point. Some places are starting to put up signs "Stay in lane to merge point" to help counteract the uninformed rage from those in the long line.

People around here are good about zipper merging, such as into the tunnels. I hear it's not so in other places known for rude drivers.
