Yes, I took main venue gate to be main show field.

I would be in favor of that, but not exactly making final plans on that basis...

"main Venue Gate" would be where day trippers, shuttles and that day's arrivals come in. Which suggests you can't arrive Friday morning to set up camp. It would be a good change to open the toll booths at 7 or 8 on Friday and Saturday morning. With the late and limited music Thursday night I can easily see people opting to come Friday morning.

As Kuriti says, mid-day Thursday makes more sense than dawn, especially with no tunes until 7:30. Also gives you time to get ice Thursday on the way in instead of packing it Wednesday. That, also, is a draw-back for a Wednesday arrival--one more cooler maintenance day.

Still think we will do Wednesday entry. We have VIP tickets and an RV. We did it last year and got a nice spot. Ice is something to consider but a big Yeti and RTIC cooler with 80 pounds of cheap ice and the freezer in the RV to freeze water bottles before adding them to our drinking cooler along with the previously mentioned ice should limit how much on-site ice we buy. We can set up camp and there's plenty of time for a Thursday nap to be fresh for JRAD.

I'd say that is carried over from 2016.

We shall have to commemorate the occasion with a frosty beverage.

If we get there around Noon on Thursday with our RV in GA are we looking at a far walk to the Venue? Or should we plan on getting there earlier?

good info and intel! The VIP area looks like L3's set up (was it the same at L4?).

No they had moved these areas around for L4 but still a good setup I thought. 

Can't tell if they moved anything from last year. The map that was submitted with the application for 2017 was the same map from 2016. Don't know if that means anything. Last year (L4) the VIP entrance was across from VIP hill and went into the VIP tent same as L3 but the tent was closer to the stage. GA entrance was opposite side of the field. Still had fences between VIP and SVIP. did not see an open alley. It looks like the VIP viewing area may be larger this year which would be great news. It was just too cramped last year and looked like an afterthought.
