I think I have 36 so far. Since I was in Yugoslavia before the split, can I now count it as 4? Although I would lose East Germany by that logic.

Not counting Texas I don't care what they say.

When that statement appears in transactional documents, it often led to all levels of "smartassery" as you say; some who over think it have started putting that statement in parenthesis or brackets, as if it were a stage whisper and did not count to contradict itself.

A reverse tautology in that the statement, by its existence, renders itself false.

And then those who have thought through this rubric put their heads down on their desks and weep over their pathetic lives. The ones who today will say, "Thank God it's Friday! Only two more working days until Monday!"
