Would it be going too far or too GDish to use the same basic format but use the skull in the center with the LOCKN' logo instead of the lightning bolt? Although I imagine there could be a copyright problem there.

I think this works. Not sure its possible to tweak to get the infinity symbol more "wrapped" around the red ball? In other words it looks sort of 2d while the ball looks 3d.

mccjeff: They offered to do our child's ultrasound while in utero in 4D. I still have no idea what that means. Time/space maybe? Does it involve dark matter/anti-matter?

For every version that I have posted there have been four to five revisions between each one. I just post the ones that "make the cut". There are at least 20 versions of this, that I have seen.I know revisions are a pain in the ass, but it definitely is improving as a result!

This is my favorite of the revisions. It eliminates the spidey effect. Kudos to the designer, it's good work.
My concern about this type of design, in spite of the visual appeal, is that it doesn't really provide much brand distinction and simplicity. It's basically the Lockn' logo (which I agree should be incorporated some way) with some in a design with some text around it.
The font is really nice, but I echo Sneake in that it may be difficult to make out at a distance or in a small medium. And then it's just a Lockn' thing.
I think the jackass with the purple-taped glasses provided a more recognizable "identity," even if it was a bit of an inside joke.
When I think of a good logo, I look for something that you can scratch in the dirt and recognize what it is. The Lockn' logo is just that. Folks would create it with a bunch of glow sticks on the ground in the venue, and you can tell what it is. Finding something that incorporates that, AND have it inside something that is also a simple symbol is a huge challenge. Maybe unrealistic. But it would be cool. If there was a way to take the Lockn' symbol and incorporate it into the word FORUM would work nicely.
So this is nice, it's great work. I don't want to be critical of it. It's just a different direction than what I was thinking would be a nice logo for the site.
