True. Actually my post January plan includes returning to 'weekend" drinking instead of "daily" drinking. That's going to be the hard part.

My daughter is on day 5, getting through the snow-bound temptations.

They say it takes 2 weeks to start or break a habit. So focus on day 14. Draw on the tricks from AA and smoking cessation.

I decided I have too much else going on and if I try to do too much at once I'll fail at it all. However, since I am watching my caloric intake, I'm restricting myself to two per week.

This weekend was easier than I thought! My end date is also Jan 27th as we have a party to go to. My dad died a rabid alcoholic, so even though I was also tongue in cheek, this is a method to keep myself in order as well. Most of the current research encourages people not to think of alcoholism as either you have it or you don’t, but to be aware of your relationship with alcohol and know why you drink and don’t just do it out of habit. I think that is a useful idea. I am also walking 4+ miles each day as the primary reason I drink is to escape stress and exercise is a much better method, if not much harder.

Yeah, I am actually enjoying the weight loss and exercise. My wife fell off the wagon on Friday night when my mom stayed the night. She kept it to one glass of wine and is supposedly back on track. I knew if I broke, the whole thing would be over.

Trust me, Mrs. Wales and I are carrying all y'all's slack. Just doing our part.
