Whenever I see TLEO I can't help but sing Mississippi Half-step.

I repaired a jump box that wouldn't hold a decent charge, about 8 years old.

Instead of replacing at about $150 I replaced the battery inside for about $40. Bought it from Lowes and turned in my old one for the $10 core charge.

Lots of youtube vids on reviving an old sealed cell lead battery but I couldn't get mine to take. But it makes me want to occasionally open one up and add water. Learned you can check each cell with a volt tester, and smart chargers won't charge a real dead battery; you have to pour over straight from a good one.

Anyway it was easy to open up and I only had about four screws left over when I closed it up but some may have been from a Kuerig I raised from the dead.

being plastic it doesn't seal up quite as tight but I might put some silicone onn the gaps since I have it out in the weather some.

One issue--watch this when you replace a battery--the terminals need to be in the same position. On mine, the negs were on cable so easy enough but the pos had a hard jump and the replacement was about a half inch further away from the connection. I started to make a new jump out of old roofing copper but scavenged a jump off a power winch and encouraged it to fit. i was going to make a wire jump but I was concerned about loosing some voltage on that first connection.

Oiled the compressor while it was open.

If you have a swing-top cooler, add essential insulation with a piece of packing styrofoam.

I've heard of applying/reapplying silicone by paint brush on equipment, especially large surfaces like a tent; much cheaper than spray cans. That's how one reapplies wax (melted) to waxed cotton goods.

The "button" is an old trick and golf balls work; the bigger, the less risk of tearing. A good way to secure flapping tapestries and flags--or add weight--without tearing the fabric.

And it is being applied through the entire fabric, not just the outer layer. Pretty cool. Would want a tight weave cloth.
