Very cool. The issue is traffic when going the most direct route. The Scranton route is longer but had less issues. I'll have to see what's up with construction too! Now that we've bought a camp pass, I can add us to this list. We're traveling from Portland, Oregon. Anyone else from the Left Coast? 
We're arriving several days early to tour around VA and see a little of DC.
Are there any hippie towns we should visit along the way?
Floyd (home of Floydfest) is a hippie town in VA although a little out of the way from most everything. If you get to the Shenandoah Valley let me know.
VA is great if you like historical sites.

Thanks! I did a little reading on Floyd. Unfortunately we don't have time to go that far west...Going to hang out at Eastern Shore and Charlottesville besides DC.

oh ya, i forgot about all the history. monticello is a pretty awesome place. historically righteous. if you make it there, check out mickey tavern. williamsburg also has a lot of shit to look at

As far as interesting sites in va go I have to agree with sneake. Monticello is very cool.

It depends on which map service I look up the time goes from just over ten hours up to almost twelve hours yet being n old timer used to actual maps I come up with just over ten hours. I really am glad that being n old timer I actually know how to use a map oh and so do my kids.

Highly recommend this site for planning road trips: www.travelmath.com - Use the Trip Calculator on the right side of the home page and select drive time option. Once you get drive time results, scroll down to view a route map. The calculator defaults to the shortest route, but if you click and pull the route line to a different route, it will recalculate the mileage and drive time. My google maps or whatever I have on the iphone does that too.
NY and NJ and DC are all hot areas...and if you get stuck...8 turns into 10 pretty quick.

We are coming from Cali. Flying in to Richmond. Then driving to Charlottesville. Can't wait for the festi to start. It's only about a month away now. We are from Weimar California. We will travel back and forth from Charlottesville. Does anyone know how long it actually takes to drive from the festi site to CV?
