Looking back at past line ups it seems there have been up and down years with the headliners. Was there always this amount of complaining during the down years?

Ohhh c’mon, a boy can dream...
I’m great with the line up, but no one ever says no thank you I don’t want anymore music. 😁
But with the lack of the Woodstocks could help boost ticket sales.

Oh hell yeah just not always about Lockn.
TOO is doing his best to keep it civil in here, but there've been plenty of bru hahas around here regardless. Loving music and being opinionated go hand in hand. "Don't feed the animals" has a deeper meaning in these here parts. This family is growing and despite Papa Too it's still disFUNctional.

Positives for Lockn' 2019:
- Amazing location, setting, venue
- Thursday night
JRAD, Gary Clark, Khrunangbin
- Friday
Pigeons, TreyBand (TRAD)
- Saturday
Tedeschi
This lineup is a nonstarter.
Negatives
- Lack of headliners on Friday/Sat
- 1 night of JRAD
I have been coming to Lockn' from Charlotte for the past 4 years. Based on this lineup, my group will be selling our Lumi tix and heading to The Peach Festival.
Missing elements that would allow us to reconsider.
WideSpread, String Cheese, Greensky, 2nd night of JRAD, Lettuce, Lotus, Spafford, Marcus King, Big Something, Stringdusters.
Considering the competition, this lineup is very weak; tix sales will suffer.

Been reading this and keeping up for a few years now but just getting an account. I am on the younger side hence the name but have been to every LOCKN' and the festival has introduced me to many of the bands I love to this day! I love the whole scene that Shapiro has essentially created (Relix/Dayglo stuff plus his great venues) and Frey has really knocked it out of the park reshaping the venue to what it is today and keeping us in the loop as well as all the other stuff he does.
I think this lineup is definitely "thinner" in the grand picture of all of the past lineups, but that doesn't mean it is "worse", IMO. They have definitely thought out this year's event and to me, I see a very balanced lineup full of ridiculous talent and great live shows across the weekend. Sure the name recognition might not be as "big" as in past years to many, but that isn't the end of the world to LOCKN' I feel like. Andy Frasco is a mad man on stage and he will kick things off right. Gary Clark Jr. can absolutely shred and then JRAD will knock it out of the park. Friday is full of fun day time acts, never hurts to see OCMS in my eyes. Revivalists used to be one of my favourite live bands until Dave Shaw really started getting into himself at times (no hate intended), so I am hoping they just play a wide variety of their songs because they have so many great ones. TAB with Derek will 100% be epic and I can't wait to see what they do. Oteil and Friends will be great from the looks of it, hopefully, a lot of sit-ins from people there already that weekend, etc. I understand Shappy is doing Vulfpeck at MSG, so I can see why they have a high bill on Saturday. They could very well add another band in between them and TTB (which I wouldn't hate)but we shall see. TTB with Trey will also be epic and I can't wait to see that either. Trey can clearly make shit happen with a full sounding band (horns, percussion, backup singers, etc.)band so I'm really excited. Side note: I really hope both Derek and Trey play the ENTIRE second set of their respective shows and not like 4-5 songs, that would be a buzzkill in my eyes. Sunday looks fun! I haven't seen Nahko but I like their stuff so far (5-6 songs). Steel Pulse is great and I love them as the "reggae" act. St. Paul and The Broken Bones just kick ass and that show is great for Sunday. Moe. finally getting their own set should be great. Jason Isbell is someone I've heard fantastic things about but have yet to see live. I haven't really listened to much of him but I do enjoy the songs I've heard. I'm excited to see him live. Bob and Wolf Bros....wondering if it's the right call for Sunday headliner? I understand Sunday is more "mellow" and am not hating on Bob at all, but I feel a Trio (with Susan second set of course) might be a tad light. I hope that a ton of guests come out and play with Bobby as he is the ringleader the entire show, then I would take everything back and love every second of it.
Of course, I am VERY excited about the late nights in the Forest this year. Galactic, Soulive and CATS are all brilliant choices for that venue. Day shows at the forest are hopefully in the morning (I'm guessing they are going to be when those Piano on the Porch shows were?) and I can't wait to start my day over there with food, coffee and bluegrass.
Overall I can't wait for this year. I am very sorry for the long read but I haven't ever posted and I think I got the built up energy out there. Hopefully I meet some of y'all in 2019! I feel like some of us may have crossed paths before...

That being said, this lineup is solid top to bottom and has me psyched. Some of the solid acts that some may not be familiar with include:
St Paul and the broken bone - their lead singer is a trip, think Jerry Lee Lewis without the piano,
Nahko and Medicine for the people - excellent band with a very rich sound,
Soulive, hopefully with Eric Krasno,
Everytime (4)I have seen Otiel and friends the band has included John K (who will be there with Keller), Eric Krasno, Melvin Seals, and the amazing voice of Alicia Chakour from Tedeschi Trucks, all will be there
If Trucks and Anastasio lift each other it could be really special

Second time posting, second time attendee this year. Our first was last year and we completely fell in love. The lineup this year is pretty damn good. I think, as far as depth goes, it’s deeper than last year, but that can be personal opinion.
Really only been following lineup releases two years now, including last, which I know was a little different, does anyone see some room at the top for a Mule, WSP, etc type add? I’m finding it a little hard to see Vulfpeck and maybe others the lead up to the Headliner each night. Has there been “bigger” late additions historically?
I’m sure this has been discussed already but curious as everyone has let the lineup sink in a little.
