Like a beer can, recycled from last year!
The Canned Craft Beer Tasting and Exchange occurs as part of the Friday Meet and Greet. Participation is optional.
From discussions here at L2 before the fest about good canned craft beer to bring generally, due to the no-glass rule, it was apparent that good beer was coming in from all over the country, so yours truly suggested we have a trading post of sorts when we got together. The concept is to bring about six beers, drink two or three and take home three or four of something you didn't bring. YMMV.
Also, since it's fun to try different beers without taking off with a whole can, we have tasting cups so we can try more and share more. The hyperorganized could set up flights even.
There may be a couple of large coolers there to consolidate in or set up a mixed cooler with your fellow travelers.
Many like to bring something that represents their home town. Some bring home brew (SS growler). My local will make a "crowler" a 24oz can made on site from the tap. I find it useful to tear off a label from a carton and put it with your wares so folks can see what it is.
But no one should feel like they have to dump in a six as a cover charge; those who bring extras do so because they enjoy sharing, so come without and enjoy! You just wouldn't have toting privileges at the end.
Since you can't take your exchanged beer into the venue, you may have to stash your cooler to get later; put your name on it. The location is close to the entrance*. Also note that those coming down from High Field can't cross the show field, if it's even open, with beer so go around.
I manage to take my exchanged beer home and later, when I drink it, fondly recall the pleasant repast with all the friends I see at Lockn'.
So--what are you bringing?
*I think my tent site this year will be close to the entrance, too, so you are welcome to stash there before, or after, but the evaporation can be pretty strong there. "Sending lettuce by rabbit" as my grandmother would say.
