Funny Memes

What I can't abide is the term. These are not memes but are "internet memes." They pertain as much to memes as the cartoon "Mighty Mouse" does to actual tiny rodents.

Memes, when the term is used properly, are of a fascinating theory about human sociobiology and subliminal cultural communication, with a strong connection to the concept of instinct. Smart guys like Stephen Hawkins were on board. The theories are not universally accepted, making them more interesting, and much is debatable about the nature and quality of memes--some think they have a physical presence.

The basic idea is that specific knowledge I have, somehow gets into your skull, and becomes part of your knowledge, but without the benefit of direct teaching or observation. While instinct may (or might not?) pass vertically, memes pass horizontally.

Which has no relationship with a funny caption on a photograph.

Definitions change. It's a meme.

Using a word incorrectly until its definition changes is the way language devolves rather than evolves. Can I gift you some ice tea and can beans?

referring to making the image smaller? You taught me that hack trick, which I use for the countdown.

For others: if the image is large, hit the "BB Code" button and in the string of characters find "image width:100%". Just change the 100 to 50 for half, 25 for quarter, etc. You can go back to a posted picture and edit it down. Apparently this is important for those who use "smart" phones instead of a computer screen. I wouldn't know.
