Excellent point.
It's about the music for me. I listen very closely - to all of the musicians - what is the bass player doing? (Of particular interest to as a (quasi) bass player) Are lead and rhythm players in sync and complementing each other? Is the keyboard player paying attention?
Half the time I have my eyes closed as well...
I am REALLY boring to go to a musical event with. I don't want to talk while the music is playing. I just DON'T GET why people would pay hundreds of dollars to attend a festival and the ignore what is playing to hold an entirely unrelated conversation?
(I do get it with music you don't particularly like, but I try to be respectful of both musicians and their fans, but I will backslide on occasion... After all, I am only a human type animal.)
You really can't generalize about people, but I think the Lockn' crowd is pretty musically sophisticated when compared with a lot of other festivals (Coachella, anyone?).
This is why Lockn is so special. Very few show talkers, very respectable crowd. Most are tuned into the individual musicians as well as what they are doing together, sophisticated I suppose compared to the “general public”. I’m the guy with my eyes closed and my hand cupped behind my ears half the time haha. I couldn’t agree more, why do people spend the money on shows to talk about nonsense while the music is playing? When I’m at a local venue in mass I have little patience for those talking around me and have been known to tell ppl to kindly STFU! Obviously at fests when you are seeing sometimes 14 hours of music a day, you have to put up with some chatter and that’s fine. No talking during the Q though!

Between 5:00-6:00, depends if DSO is two sets. I’m thinking:
5:00-6:00 Taz
6:00-7:30 Marcus King Band
7:30-11:00 DSO 2 Sets w/ sit ins from Taz & Marcus
11:00- whenever Jerry Dance Party (maybe in Forest)

I figured Jerry Dance Party would be last & be the late night thing in the Forest at Neals Stage. But having them 1st is ok, just not ideal for their Visuals & light show.

Are they gonna sell Thursday still? Or was that just for before the lineup dropped?
I purchased my pass so no worries there but received a message from our neighbor last year, asking me.

6-7 Taz
7-9 DSO
9-11 MKB
11-1 Boombox

TTB had that same exact slot two days in a row in 2018, so they could do it again. I really think it will be TTB and it will be announced after their dates in DC and Richmond next month. No inside info, just my feeling.
Some sort of Bobby incarnation would be nice, too. Maybe a Billy and the Kids w/Bobby and a surprise Phil sit-in?
Also, Friday is the only day with 8 slots. The other days have 9. Maybe we get a surprise addition on Friday as well.
And if they add Khruangbin with Leon Bridges, I may lose my mind.

Last year the pre-headliner came on at basically 8. I think you can pencil a headliner at 930-1230 ish.
It should be a name on the TTB, Isbell, Revivalists, Vulfpeck level
Hiss Golden Messenger - 12/9
My Morning Jacket - 12/29-12/31

Since Mule is playing and Warren is sitting in with the headlining set, DSO is there and Barraco is sitting in, I'm hoping for a WSP set on Saturday. I could see a WSP does Talking Heads or a The Band set with Teresa Williams and Larry Campbell.
Also, hard to believe we would have a Lockn and not see Bob. Historically, only his health issues have left him out. Be great to have another Billy and the Kids feat. Bob and Micky. Although Phil would be running scales with his amps up to 11 for his "sound check".

I agree with all of this. Weir is most likely, I like the Revivalist & Jackson Browne call too. If it’s not Weir, it’s gonna be somebody comparable to Brandi Carlile & Leon Bridges, that’s how it lines up on the schedule. And the Saturday thing w/ The Q & Crosby is kinda the signature set (its Mayer/JRAD for me) they aren’t gonna schedule anything that might steal that shine. I wouldn’t want to go on after Derek Trucks just slayed dragons on stage. I don’t think it’s WSP cause Jimmy ain’t gonna play 5 hours straight. I think it’ll be something that makes you say “I’m gonna go back to camp & chill before primetime”, a band like that. Which we’ll need after the fire Crosby and Oteil & Friends Sets that afternoon.
