The Ultimate Festival Checklist

I just got a 9 x 9 sun shade at tractor supply for 9.99 on close out that will fit in my luggage nicely. I would have never gone in there if they weren't recommended on this board, so to whoever mentioned their boots thanks!

I bring a couple of 2 and 3 pound work out weights to attach the tapestries downward. Always knew I'd find a use for those.

Seen this many times before, but have yet to try it. Also, if you don't already have a battery operated box fan, I feel truly sorry for you. That thing is a life saver. i think mine is O2Cool or something like that? Like $10 at wally world

ICE ICE BABY

I recently learned that a local fish wholesaler will fill your cooler with ice for about $10 (depends on size). I'm sure there are other businesses that use a lot of ice that would do this, maybe just for the asking--including restaurants (I once had a Hardees' fill a huge cooler for me after a large order for a picnic).

So those living within a few hour's drive may want to investigate this; to have a cooler dedicated to just ice, filled and packed, will be good for a couple of days; cheap; keeps better that way. Hint-- a layer of newspaper under the top makes a big difference). Or, those driving further, instead of buying bags at the "last stop" C-store, see if a local business will fill you up.
I recall there used to be an ice house in Staunton where I'd by block ice on my way camping nearby but that was ages ago. But that's the sort of thing might be worth investigating, especially since C-store bag ice has gotten so expensive.

BTW at the fest, a truck drives around in the morning selling ice; IIRC 20# bags for $10. Not bad, considering. Easy to share w/ neighbors.

Better yet....switch to cots.  We did this year and it's been wonderful.  Warmer when it's cold out.  Cooler when it's hot out.  Better space availability in the tent as we can store things under the cots and there is a big space in the middle of the tent where we can actually stand up to change clothes.  It's glorious!

I've had a checklist since Woodstock 99. Every year as I learn I add & subtract from my list. My notebook is getting raggey & some parts hard to read so it's time to get a new notebook & update it.
