HUGE shout out to our very own docbrown for stepping up when her skills were needed this weekend at Stevestock. docbrown you rock!
I used to get certified in First Aid/CPR every two years when I was teaching. Since I retired I let my certification slide. I need to get on that and renew it. You just never know when your training will help someone in need.

Yes, shout out to docbrown! I still have an active certification as an Emergency Medical Responder which include First Aid, CPR and much more and I carry my trauma bag with me. I've been first on scene in a car wreck where a young girl had broken her back and I assisted until EMTs got there. We also had an injury in the plant last year where a machine fell on a guy's leg (I'll leave out the gruesome details) but he was bleeding out and my team responded to the scene, controlling the bleeding until EMT's arrived. Our job is mostly to keep the patient alive until EMTs arrive but sometimes that can be a challenge. You never know what kind of incident you'll see in an industrial plant like this one. I've seen fingers amputated, fingers crushed, nails shot through fingers, crushing leg injuries, etc. The main thing that I need to add to my trauma kit is Narcan. Festival season, and the opioids that come with it, are here...HUGE shout out to our very own docbrown for stepping up when her skills were needed this weekend at Stevestock. docbrown you rock!

Yikes! I hope the incident at Yourstock wasn't that traumatic. BIL Andy is en ER doc and he always goes by the med tent at Lockn (in the "just visiting" section) for support and info.

On the subject of narcan. Last year I roll into rhythm and roots one day and realize I forgot a beer coozie. No big deal, tons of booths give them away as swag, I thought. Walk up to the first booth I see with them sitting on the table.
I asked if I could have a couple. She said "yeah but I want you to take something too". Then proceeds to pull out a bag with narcan and some other supplies. Turns out it was a substance abuse organization. Gave us a quick run down and said just keep it handy, never know when you may need it. Tossed it in my festival totes as soon as I got home.
Hope I never need it but with the rampant fent problem it's kinda needed, sadly.
