Interesting article about Lockn's liquor license...

And by "like", you mean "am concerned about"?

I see this as an invitation for Lockn' to move their fine festival to a different state.

This is unbelievable..a complete waste of revenue and resources. Last year we had an extremely peaceful gathering of 20,000 people from all different walks of life, I don't even think they arrested more than a dozen and there were no issues of violence. The local sheriff and law enforcement also seem to think the same. I say screw the ABC make it BYOB and kick their asses to curb along with their 750,000 dollar booking center w/ onsite judge. I'm still pissed that they secretly video-taped us all last year and had the nerve to complain about a lack of lighting so they couldn't observe us further. Someone needs to put them in check whether it be Lockn's lawyer, a move to a state that fully embraces the festival, etc..

it would make me very sad if they moved out of va. i can understand the want by many, but it's so close to me! haha

We just had a situation where Riot Fest was denied a permit to hold its event in Byers, Colorado by the county commissioners. It had nothing to do with alcohol sales but "community impact" was cited. I believe the "community impact" was the fact that some people didn't like punk rockers coming to town.

Having attended the Fest last year in Byers, it went off without a hitch and the town could not have been more welcoming. Especially all the people in town lined up to sell something to the evil punk rockers.

The good news is Riot Fest found a new location and they are still supporting the town of Byers by bringing local businesses to the Fest, now in Denver.

It's unfortunate when a minority of public officials fear something like Lockn or Riot Fest instead of embrace all the positives events like these bring to a community. If you want to read a great rebuttal to those types, the owner of Riot Fest posted the following letter last week:

when you read the "violations" you see how petty the ABC agents are. "nudity" = 1 girl sunbathing topless for 10 minutes. Can't see what people are doing with their feet ("My God! They're dancing! On Sunday even!"). A whiff of marijuana.

Remember these are the same ones who attacked those girls in Charlottesville with guns drawn in a dark parking lot b/c they assumed her case of bottles water was beer.

The license is in order until the appeal is over, and that won't happen until after this year's fest. Beer will be as advertised for 2014.

Inside sources told me that everything was going to be OK. They got such a black eye from the Charlottesville disaster that they
won't be as aggressive on last year's "violations" and perhaps they'll be a little bit cooler this year.

Or it may make them sneakier and more thorough.

I believe I read the same thing too. ...just recently.

What really sucks about this is about 100 miles away is the Nascar Race.  I have attended that event for the past 20 years, with last years Lockn my first missed race.  There are more drunks, underage drinking and pot use that goes on all day long.   Truck loads of coolers and people falling down drunk for several days.  People are allowed to bring there own beer into the event and drink way to much.   I have seen more boobies at the track then I every saw at Lockn.   Heck, I bring a bag of beads to the race just for that purpose.   

I guess Nascar puts enough cash in the wright pockets to stay off the radar.  ABC, please leave us alone.
