Hello,
I was wondering, I am going in an RV in ga camping...my friends and I want to set up a tent in our RV area, is that allowed, we would be using it primarily for storage, and what ever....is that allowed at all??

disclaimer: not official info, i didnt even check the website. i'd say it would probably be fine. there were people with all sorts of fancy patio type setups last year. i really doubt they'd give you shit for a tent

I concur. Last year was the first Lockn, and no one really knew what to expect. (We all had questions but not a whole lot of places to find answers.)disclaimer: not official info, i didnt even check the website. i'd say it would probably be fine. there were people with all sorts of fancy patio type setups last year. i really doubt they'd give you shit for a tent
But I have to admit that once we all got in and set up, the whole Lockn experience was an easy going, laid back and fun time! So don't sweat the small stuff, there's not a bunch of gestapo type uniforms running around keeping order or anything like that.

I remember reading on the Lockn website that it's ok to set up a tent by your RV, as long as you're within the space limitations of your site.

We were in GA RV last year and a few in our group stayed in a tent setup on the site beside our popup camper.
As long as it fits on your allotted space you should be good to go.
The space easily accommodated our camper with awning, toe vehicle, 4 person tent a 10x10 EZ Up.
Any errors in grammar or spelling are in fact transmission errors

An extra tent or two shouldn't be a problem, just as long as it fits in your space. Last year some friends who were officially in the far back car camping area set up their tents right in front of our RV and stayed there. Saved a LOT of walking for them. There is definitely nobody going around making people move tents - if you and your neighbors are good, then that is what matters. The only 'official' we saw in the campgrounds (besides the mounted patrols who I think stayed on the main lanes) was one young guy who came around asking if the power was OK - making sure the generators were delivering the juice.The RV area is mostly flat - that is probably the main reason it is located up on the ridge and not closer down the hill towards the venue. I was pretty concerned with the first 2014 map, which showed the RV area including down the hillside. The revised map has it in the same area as last year. We were parked near where it started to go downhill, and I put some wood blocks down and leveled it up a bit.Is GA RV parking flat!The RV entrance (last year anyway) was over at the far right when looking at the map - coming off Oak Ridge Road near the big oak tree. We came up Route 29 from the South and were directed onto a little road before getting up to Oak Ridge Road, and then the RVs were sent onto Diggs Mountain Road (or as I call it "the land that time forgot" because everybody was pretty much parked there all day Thursday). We finally got up towards Oak Ridge Road and went through the check-in and then got back on the road going around the track and on over to the RV entrance. I'm not sure if that is the plan this year or not. I think they directed us onto the back roads to relieve the traffic on Route 29. Our friends in a car who weren't sent onto Diggs Mountain Road went on up the back way to the far campground and got in within a couple more hours. We were on Diggs all day, and by the time we got camp set up it was getting dark.Do you know where the entrance for GA RV is?

I did not get instructions with my GA RV ticket. While this forum has been helpful I am still needing clarity on the entrance. Sounds like the entrance is on the "rights side of the map" = to coming in from the East side of Oak Ridge road and not even on 29? I am flying in from Colorado and driving in from New Port News so will be coming from the East anyway. So should I plane a rout to the east side of the venue on Oak Ridge Rd or come in on 29? Then onto Oak Ridge? Thanks again for the help! I just do not want to cause any issues and get caught where I do not belong.

The green lines are just an assumption right now that I'm getting concerning the multiple entrances that I have been hearing about. The green line on the far right still comes off of 29 (not in the image) but I'm not sure logistically how they are going to pull that off unless they have another security checkpoint in place.
I have not heard at all about any eastern routes into the site.
Understand that this is by no means how they are going to do this, as Lockn hasn't commented on it yet very much.

Nice work, but VIP is now on the south end of the field. for the OP, just take I64 west from Newport News to exit 118 (rt 29 south). Go about 20 miles to Lovingston and start following the signs/the cops. It couldn't be easier.

What do you think the chances are to get in the front row of the GA RV parking area? Does anyone know if they will line us up parallel with Oak Ridge Road? from google maps looks like there is a fence between the "meadow" and the RV Ridge. if so did they line up perpendicular to this fence so you pull in head first or back in depending on the south west sun. ~ right? What do you think the chances are to get in the front row of the GA RV parking area? I did preferred tent only last year so I'm not aware of how they did anything in RV.
Yes there is a fence between rv and the meadow/hill.

You'll be fine. The area to the right of the fence is the rv area and it's flat. The other side of the fence heading toward the venue is the hill.

Yes along the fence it is a little more level. But when I arrived last year those spots were pretty much taken. The view is nice from along that ridge as well. They parked us parallel to the fence. Plenty of room. But there was a slope from the fence down to the dirt road that you enter on. You will need to bring xtra levelers for your rig. It's not hard ground either. There are small ditches or pockets in the ground. I Have a class a motorhome and plan on bringing lots of levelers. And everyone wants to get there early. So you'll be in plenty of company. then someone posted that all RV's come in the same way as VIP. I'm surprised they haven'tr given that info to RV tickets.

The green lines are all pretty much assumption and speculation as I previously stated. The green line to the right is the one where someone with vip said they had to go just as you described. It just doesn't show well on this pic....according to my VIP info, your green lines are wrong. The alternate route is to the north of the main entrance and they route you east, then south, so you come in from the west on Oak Ridge, where the RV parking is

AS I said before I am GA RV and received no instruction with my ticket so all information to be shared on this subject will help this Colorado girl not get lost, or stuck where I should not be. If we are to come in from the West via an alternative rout that is not shown on Wild bills map please help show me what you received for instruction. Thanks

If you look on the map, RT 29 on the left side is a major four lane road running north and south. If you are on it, regardless if you are coming from the south or the north, you absolutely positively cannot miss the turn for the festival. There will be electronic signs, regular signs, orange cones, lots of police cars with flashing lights.AS I said before I am GA RV and received no instruction with my ticket so all information to be shared on this subject will help this Colorado girl not get lost, or stuck where I should not be. If we are to come in from the West via an alternative rout that is not shown on Wild bills map please help show me what you received for instruction. Thanks
