Welcome to the Lockn' Forum - The home of the original Lockn' Music Festival family!
Whatever, i feel like i got my money's worth and the festival happened 9 months ago - I'm all of this was already discussed in the weeks following. Been every year and last year was my first time in VIP, while it is expensive, it is worth it if you really like the lineup. The VIP viewing area left a bit to be desired relative to prior years/ however, the sound there was great, it was easy to walk right up (other than during phish), they had an air conditioned tent which opened at 10 I think, air conditioned showers / bathrooms, sunscreen, waters / other non alcoholic drinks / they passed out water in the vip area during the shows and the campsite was able to hear pretty well and even see very well, also it was a 2 minute walk into the venue. - also the overlords can move this to another thread if you feel the need. I like this idea. It is perfect for couples. Then Shap-Frey can add the option for us single guy gangs to get one/buy one (they get extra $$ - I think this can be sold). We do VIP for these reasons: (1) easy entry to the field. I mean, real easy. (2) close camp site to both show field and BRB. We could hear both from out spot. (3) viewing area up close. I am like a moth to flame when an axe master is wailing. Please note: This forum is in no way officially associated with Lockn' Festival or its promoters.

Yep, you keep the (majority of) people happy, and they keep coming which means more money. If adding more shade structures keeps me cooler and coming in the day before means I dont have to wait in line the next day, Im perfectly fine with them making money off that.

With this smaller set-up, the campsite isn't as big of a deal anymore so not sure I would do it again in the future. But from my experience last year was totally worth the money but again, I loved the lineup.

The only time we have gone VIP was Allgood and that was totally worth it at Marvins. Ohio not as much. The proximity to the stage was the big benefit. Being able to see and hear from camp was HUGE.
What happens if I take both?

Definitely could see it at Marvins, since the VIP camping area was significantly better than anywhere else and it really didn't even cost that much more.
Was just talking about All Good at Marvins with a friend yesterday about how it was so different from a modern fest like Lockn. It was like half music fest, half survival weekend in the mountains. Cell phones may as well have not been invented yet since they didn't work.

Probably my favorite fest was Moe.orLes at Marvin's, Moe and Frog Brigade co headline fest in 02, just so laid back and rustic. Don't know if we'll ever really see that atmosphere with largish acts anymore.

Looks like I missed big time on my P-Funk Incident. Really whiffed but I am surprised there is not an Incident at all.

With all of the special guesting that goes on at Lockn, Thursday is suspiciously straight-forward.

Thursday is suspiciously straight-forward, except for the surprise DeadCo set...
No actually I think the announcement they made last week was the final artist announcement, according to what Dave Frey said on the Q and A. I mean they will still do the Rockn to Lockn participants and a final schedule, but he indicated that this was it for major artist announcements. That also fits with the "one spring, one summer" announcement, albeit the end of May is a bit early for summer proper, but I think that was their summer announcement.
That said, there are certainly collaborations which could potentially be announced. I'd be surprised if it included an Incident though. I think those were intended as ticket-sellers and it is getting late to announce anything to spike ticket sales.

The main reason I would like to see them again (saw them on the fall tour) is that I dig the group of musicians in the band... as well as Bob. But The National is a cool band with a unique sound so hearing them in the Campfire Band was pretty cool.
That being said, I'm pretty psyched about Jorma with Moonalice too. A fun mid day set.
