Saw these guys last night, opening for PPPP.
Called 'Here Come the Mummies' - from Wikipedia:
The band consists of various professional musicians based in Nashville, Tennessee. There are rumored to be several Grammy awards among the members, though this is difficult to verify, as the identities of band members are kept "under wraps."[citation needed] Members are believed to be under contract to various record labels, hiding their identities so as to prevent contract disputes while performing.
According to the band's humorous promotional material: "Some say [the band was] cursed after deflowering a great Pharaoh’s daughter. Others claim they are reincarnated Grammy-Winning studio musicians. Regardless, HCTM’s mysterious personas, cunning song-craft, and unrelenting live show will bend your brain, and melt your face."
These guys were made for Lockn'. Fun from start to finish. Definitely a wake-the-fuck-up-and-dance band.
They have been around for a while, but this is the first time I have heard of them. Every now and again you walk into a show and the opening band will knock your socks off... (I love it when that happens).
Does everyone know about this band and I am just Band Stumblin' across them now?
I saw them at a little festival in traverse city a few years ago. You described perfectly. I think they’d be a fun forest late night. Think their music needs the dark

I’ve seen them a couple times too. My favorite song is “Pants”. I love all the double entendres and there horns got that funky soul that powers their music. They’d be great late night.

I spoke to Rob Barraco last night (keyboard for DSO, played with The Dead and lots with Phil including Philtana).
He said he will be there playing with Phil and Friends. I asked about the rest of the DSO and he said they may do a Jerry Garcia thing.
Of course, nothing's real until its on stage but this seems logical.

I’d say that’s a good indicator we’ll at least get a Set, probably two of “The Quintet” then. Not that Barraco couldn’t play in any lineup, but “The Q” is what I’m hoping for with him. Only thing that could hold it up is Herring but I’m starting to think he’ll be there, either w/ Panic or the “5 of 7”.

I agree with you. I don’t think Lockn can have more than 6 sets of Dead Music a year, more than that & it’s repeat city, toes get stepped on and it’s all about who played it better. And as far as “Cover Bands” go, you might be able to get away with more if it’s JRAD or Grateful Shred cause they really play it different & with a unique spin. Grateful Grass works cause it’s a different genre, sound & it’s early. But DSO, doesn’t really fit, if I’m gonna hear a recreation, i’d just as soon hear Phil or Bob and I assume we’ll get 5-6 Sets between them & their acts. Melvin Seals & JGB works I think cause it’s a different vibe & song book. And I agree about Panic too, I was on the fence but I think it’s gotta be them & Tedeschi Trucks for the 2nd headliner on 2 of the days & “to be determined” on the other. I hope we get a lineup before Santa comes down my chimney.

Since the fest is two months earlier this year it may translate into an earlier announce date. If they announce in December it would be 4-6 weeks earlier than usual.

Jeff Mattson is great, I loved him with the Zen Tricksters back in the day & totally agree he can carry his own water in any band & as “Jerry” too. But if they do a JGB Set , you think there’s a chance they have John Kadkecik do the Jerry Part. A DSO Reunion??? I mean I know Scott’s passed away, so it’s not quite the same as back in the day but I’d love to see John up there w/ those guys again. I grew up in Indiana, seeing the early DSO shows in bars, clubs, theaters & frat houses all over the Midwest. IDK what the John K.-DSO vibe is these days, I assume they are all cool. But I’d like to see it.

I agree, I think they’ll be Friday or Saturday, maybe both, but definitely 2 sets. They’ll be the band before the last Headliner (Phil) and I bet we see Derek & Susan as “Friends” on another night or a “Tedeschi Trucks & Phil Band” Set. The Tedeschi Trucks Band are Multi Year Lockn MVP’s. They never let you down.

I say the headliner slots go:
Friday: TTB>Phil w/ The Q>TTB> The Q
Saturday: WSP>Phil & Friends>WSP>Phil & Friends
Sunday: Wolf Brothers>Terrapin Family Band w/ a guest>?? IDK ?? >Phil, maybe Family Band again, maybe Phil & Bob duo, maybe Friends.
