I bet there are a lot of hungry and lonely artists ready to play.
One thing we can count on is rumors of Neil Young. Not Neil Young; just rumors.
ETA by "classic" I don't mean "classic rock" but instead our regulars like String Cheese, Tedeschi Trucks, Panic, Warren Haynes, etc. Of course they'll throw in some old ones that appear on the "classic rock" rotation.

I agree with all of this. Bring back the big time late nights, have an acoustic type act in the woods afterwards for the “come down”, some bluegrass everyday at Noon to start each day, a couple “white boy” reggae acts, let SCI curate a heater one night & get TTB to do big collab too. October is perfect festival weather, it’ll be hoodies & campfires, perfect time to rage it hard.

If we get Phil, (fingers crossed) I hope it is “The Q” for two nights. If the Crosby thing is still on the table, that’d be nice still.

Maybe String Cheese with Michael Stipe fronting them
Umphrey’s McGee w/ Michael Stipe
Big Something w/ Mike Mills (this has been done)
Mike Mills/Peter Buck w/ guest vocalist (IDK who you’d get, maybe David Shaw)
Another thing I’d like to see is a Tom Petty tribute.
Get The Heart Breakers, have guest stars galore, Chris Robinson, Jackie Greene, Keller Williams, a female vocalist for the Stevie Nicks duets. That would be sweet one year too.

Blues traveler is a jam band. They just had a couple radio singles ... i get this is the speculation thread but REM makes about as much sense as Poison.

They’ve had:
Zach Brown (not a jam band)
JT Taylor (not a Jamband)
John Fogherty (not a Jamband)
Jimmy Cliff (not a Jamband)
Steve Winwood (not a Jamband)
Tom Petty (not a Jamband)
The Avett Brothers (not a Jamband)
Willie Nelson (not a jam band)
And might I say Neil Young was scheduled, I wouldn’t call him w/o Crazy Horse anything near a jam band.
I think R.E.M is as cool as any of them, for a band to do set of their music. I d prefer to see Cheese do a set w/ David Byrne or Paul Simon but R.E.M. would be fire I think.

Just curious, why do you say that??? They regularly play other Shapiro venues (The Cap, Brooklyn Bowls), they headline other festivals, including 2-3 of their own each year. Do you think, they aren’t big enough, are on the outs w/ Shapiro or do you think it’s a conflict thing w/ Hula??? I’m just curious, I’d be bummed if they didn’t come back. I plan my whole musical calendar around Cheese dates each year and I’m always bummed when they don’t play Lockn, feels like the weekend is just incomplete w/o them, Panic, TTB, Keller, UM, Joe Russo & Phil. I hope Lockn finds a way to the Queso every year.

I dunno, it’s just a feeling. When they played Floyd last year in a year it seemed to make sense for them to play, it just worried me that Shappy just doesn’t want them at lockn. Maybe they skew too young these days? They just seem to play festivals where they get a lot more time (and multiple sets and multiple nights) than he’s willing to give. That said I frickin loved the Umph/SCI thing a few years ago and wished it was them instead of Lettuce a couple years back.

I feel ya on that. I think the reason they were off the schedule last year was b/c Shapiro wanted them for the Opening months of the Brooklyn Bowl in Nashville over Lockn. It guaranteed a 3 night sell out at his new venue a couple weeks after Phil sold out Lockn. That's why I think theybooked Peach last year. In 2019, i think it was just scheduling, SCI toured most of June & all of July, took August/September off then hit the road for a West Coast fall run. The Peach and Floyd just fit better and they were gonna do that Allman's thing with Greg but he passed away. I bet they play this year one night if Phil passes, then do a run through the Midwest/Southeast (Hampton, Ashville, Atlanta, Nashville, etc) on the way to Hula. They do like to play their own festivals though, IMO Lockn should give the headliner bands each 3 Sets over 2 nights. Like a SCI>TTB>SCI one night and TTB>SCI>TTB the next or Phil>WSP>Phil then WSP>PHIL>WSP w/ the middle Set being a One-Off thing each night or let the 3rd Set be late night for bands like SCI, UM or MMJ and let them play til sunrise. And Lockn misses the boat on the SCI side projects too. Kyle's Band would kill in the afternoon or late night, Nershi could put together a bluegrass thing or play acoustic in the forest & EOTO would be great late night on a small stage too. I like the two band set up for Late Nights, one heater from 12:00 to 2:30 and something mellow in the forest from 1:00 to 3:00.

I feel like Lockn' definitely goes the Classic Rock route more than the contemporary Jam route (I guess I'll use SCamp as a guide for what I consider that to be). I think this means we miss a lot of acts we'd all like, but they end up at Peach, and we get John Fogerty/Jeff Beck/David Crosby who wouldn't fit as well at Peach amongst those acts.
In short, I think Lockn' and Peach have to differentiate, and SCI is going to be at Peach over Lockn' every time.
