Their first year. I'm scouting it hard to replace my 'Festy' vibe. I know Hoopla is gonna be great, and the Richmond Folk fest is awesome, but I'll report back after this one!
Enjoy a beautiful upcoming weekend!

So many great festivals this weekend.
I forgot Cave Fest was this weekend. That looks hawt! Funny how we're all scattered at fests this weekend.
Everyone get some good pics. Have a great weekend!

We're all here because we're not all there

This was their 1st year. I'd say around 700 attendance and it's a completely scalable venue with great infrastructure. I'd call this a 'frugal/great value' sorta 'The Festy' type of experience. Car camping was crammed next to each other. I got there early and made my space, but wouldn't recommend it without some planning. For less $ you can drop off your stuff and park elsewhere, and there was plenty of great space for that. I don't think there are full hook-ups for RVs, but that and car camping were sold out. They also sell by the cabin, and it looked like there were a lot of those available.
Everything is close by. There are no VIP tickets. They had indoor showers/toilets and ample portas. Security was a non-issue.
They have three stages: The main stage is a nice bowl with plenty of space and shade. Their beer-hall stage had dancing/standing room and long tables to eat/drink...really good idea for any fest...and their 'late night' jams were in a barn. The 'super late night' jams were around a bonfire somewhere. The crowd skewed family and older and were incredibly chill. You buy tickets for drinks and the $8 local beers were bad.
Music wise was off the charts:
You know I love Kendall Street Company and Dirty Grass Players - they had the late night barn jam together and killed it on top of their other sets
Never seen Arkansauce before and enjoyed
Big Something was Big Something
Keller Williams Grateful Grass in the beer hall!
Neighbor (two sets) - I do like these guys but I'm still not in the fan-person club yet
Leftover Salmon and The Travelin' McCourys - It doesn't get better
The Reverend Payton is always fun
HUGE wow to Kyle Hollingsworth (keys for String Cheese) and his band
I'll never get tired of Pink Talking Phish or Empire Strikes Brass.
The organizer, 'Brick', is a great dude that would fit in here perfectly. The undercard talent he brought in, assuming he keeps them, is reason enough for me to go back. They announced on the 2nd day that there was going to be another year, which makes me wonder if he'll be able to bring in some bigger names for headliners.
Undercard, and I hadn't heard any of them before:
Bella's Bartok (gypsy/punk kinda Gogol Bordello lite) amazing
AJ Lee & Blue Summit (imo if 10,000 Maniacs were bluegrass...beautiful stuff)
Armchair Boogie (2 sets and so much fun)
Dogs In a Pyle (they are playing here on Thur and already got my tix)
Underground Springhouse (based out of Athens, GA and newish but really.......really good)
I paid $300 for fest/car camping. I would almost buy next year on blind faith.
