Hey Worf thanks for turning me on to this app. We used it today at work and it was way better than our only semi-decent FM station. My friend told me the more I use it the better it knows me, is that true?

I guess, if you're using the radio part of the app. Sounds like your friend was thinking of Pandora, though. The primary difference is Pandora is radio only, and Spotify also allows on-demand listening.

Well thanks! We shuffled up String Cheese, Leftover Salmon, Phil with Joan Ozborne, and Keller all day today. You were right he was thinking it was Pandora.
We talked about up grading but the commercials aren't that bad and unless we decide we want unshuffled music I think we will keep it the way it is. I feel like I should pay them for the service they offer free. Very grateful that you turned me on to this and IMO you have great musical taste!

It's great for the consumer. For the artists, not so much. Anyways, it's only a ten-spot. You know what they say: just a sawbuck, WTF?

It's the same either way for the artists. The advertising pays them if you don't subscribe. They make something like $0.00084/play, which I think is unconscionable.

Well, over on FM and AM, the artists don't get paid anything when their songs are played. So when an FM station plays WSP covering "All Along The Watchtower", Dylan and his publisher get paid, but not WSP. On the Internet, Dylan, publisher, and WSP get paid. Granted, not much, but it's a new source of revenue for musicians.

That's true as far as radio play goes, but streaming services also siphon off consumer resources that might otherwise go to standalone media.

Spotify is the best thing since the internet. I find the 'Discover' new music starts getting dead on after you use it for awhile. Have learned about a ton of bands I'd never heard of thru this. Better than pandora, imho, in this regard. I've been a premium user for a few years now and couldn't imagine life without it.

Turns out upgrading is pretty easy you just push the button and it is on your cell bill. Convincing the wife...we'll,not so much. "Do you have any idea how much you have spent on music so far this year?" "No honey, I don't. How much?"
Turns out she does know and it was more than I thought. "But honey I want it, not for me, for the artists. This way I'm paying them not the advertisers."
Can I just mail them cash?

I love spotify. Havent looked back for a couple years. I live in the sticks and don't have service in alot of places. So I download albums constantly so I can listen in the car and at work.
The discover option is now a tab under browse if anyone is having trouble finding it. I thought they got rid of it for a week before finding it after an update.
New primus is up.... trippy stuff
