First mention of the country fest: Nelson County Times

i eagerly, but hesitantly, await to see their definition of country. im hoping it's more of a bluegrass kind of thing and not top 40 country bullshit

It seems like logistics improve with every event they do so maybe this will super streamline a lot of it for us.
I hope they make a huge profit on both. They have a lot invested both in time and money and it would be really cool if they reaped more than they sew. They tried this with the US festival the second year with a heavy metal festival and that was the last of it.
The fact that Nelson County seems to be on board is a big bonus. You would be hard pressed to fly something like this in California with all of the agencies on board. It doesn't mean we don't have stuff but the Sherrif or the Supervisors or the Highway Patrol are pissed and bitching about resources or aftermath.

And I hope they can pull it off and make some coin.If they can find another revenue stream to help pay for upgrades to the infrastructure then maybe they won't feel the need to try and grow ours to 80,000.

actually, it might be better for us to have the top 40 BS (also called "the hat acts" disdainfully in Nashville, or "young country") which I can't abide either.  Then the quality acts will be available for lockn.  They get Trace Atkins, Garth Brooks and the Achy-Breaky Big Mistakey while we get Robert Earl Keen, Lyle Lovitt, Union Station, Sara Watkins in any form, NGDB, MTB, etc.

I would not, however, want ours to go too much Newgrass, rather be in the Americana side, but bands, not solo acoustic guitar dudes (I go all Bluto on those types).

There is big money in that other stuff so let our guys cash in. "No one ever went broke underestimating the taste of the American public."
