I hate to be the bearer of bad news, and this may be an unpopular post, but the Grateful Dead will not be performing in 2015, or ever. The band officially retired the name Grateful Dead after the passing of Jerry Garcia out of respect for Jerry, the fans and the music (in my opinion, they did not tell me the reason). Maybe this is just semantics but the Grateful Dead ended in 1995. No Jerry, no Grateful Dead.
I see the desire for people to want to relive those days, who doesn't. If you weren't there I can see why you would want to see the Grateful Dead. When Lockn announced Bob Weir and Ratdog>Phil and Friends>Furthur my reaction was "this seems too good to be true". Alas, it was.
So maybe The Core Four or The Other Ones or The Dead will try to pay tribute to the music for the 50th anniversary, who knows. All I know is if they are not mending fences and actively practicing as a group then whatever incarnation they bring will come across as an uninspired cash grab. If this is the case, I am not interested. Believe if if you need it, if you don't just pass it on.
