Talk to me about VIP

I got my VIP/Car Camp this morning, so I'm all in! Treating myself with my wife's blessing. Mostly.

Cool man, stay in touch this year. Going solo is awesome and crappy at the same time. I know some of my friends are going, but not camping out in our section. 

i did VIP car camping last year and it was great. Solo.
Bathrooms were OK except in the mornings they were shut down from troll's overuse and no oversight (like one ran out of water; next day its generator ran out of gas, so no water). Hopefully (with my comments) they will pay attention.
Showers were OK. A little crowded and the drains not so good. Again, they just need attention.
These were the bathrooms and showers on the Hill. The ones in the infield appeared to be much better.
Security was loose. I was able to bring some GA friends in a couple at a time if I was discreet. But the place was not overrun by non-VIPs except, apparently, after 1 am when they all took over the bathrooms and filled each toilet.....But i like it loose b/c I wanted to have friends in (I had many in GA/RV)
The people in VIP were great; most of them over 40 and pretty mellow so I slept until about 8:30 each day. Nice to spread out--I was on the back edge so we weren't all side by side.
The stage nearby was really loud at night. But the sound from the main stage in the daytime was really clear.
VIP viewing was great, although I spent more time with the unwashed masses since that's where my friends were.
The VIP tent was a nice break, the beer a couple bucks cheaper but limited choices; the free water was great to have since the spigot lines were right long. That part in itself was not worth the extra $$ but the whole package was, especially for solo. IOW a concert package at $800 for a family of one was fine, $1600 for a family of two probably not in my book.
Just set your expectations low and it's fine. It's not luxury. But as they say, "It's lonely at the top--but too damn crowded at the bottom."

Never been to Lock'n and considering going. With VIP, can you access regular GA areas if you have friends in GA and.or in GA parking?

Yes but while in VIP NEVER admit that you have friends in GA.

One thing I really liked about Lockn was the power for the RVs, air quality much better without each one pumping out exhaust. We did SVIP last year, gonna do VIP RV this year.

At Bonnaroo the air quality in VIP RV can get pretty dodgy.  Last year my CO detector kept going off and I wasn't even running my generator.

If the set up was like last year, you could bring non-vip friends into the outer VIP area, but inside the track it was pretty tough .

We have done VIP both years and always had friends in GA and had not problems getting them to our campsite. This year we are all doing VIP, but I am sure we will find a way to bring some folks in with us As long as everyone is cool and behaves it never has seemed to be a problem.

Neighbor folks were very friendly and our coolers un-raided. A lot less wookie action and kids selling K in VIP, which is nice.

I didn't have trouble with theft but one of my neighbors who was at the camp during a headliner Saturday night ran off some "shoppers".

Well said. They can be too quick to deem a chair abandoned!

I don't recall seeing a lost and found (or anything slightly resembling admin or people in charge).

I found an iphone on the ground in the middle of the VIP camp field early in the morning; couldn't turn it on (don't know how) to locate an owner so I put it at a prominent place near the bathrooms/showers. Hope the right person got it.

People abandon all kinds of stuff when they move out, especially those who fly; one guy's entire campsite was reportedly furnished from left-overs from the prior year. Lots of food and bev. Although I am a major trash picker (I prefer "scalvage") I passed it over for those who could use it better than I, including the local laborers cleaning up our mess. I would love to see one of the local charities set up on site to receive the stuff, either to give to local poor, or for a yard sale fundraiser. Might go suggest it.

The term "ground score" cracks me up. I had never heard it before this board last year, and now I use it all the time!

I've heard how people who fly abandon entire campsites--at Bonnaroo there is a whole take down crew to clean up. However one volunteer got an unpleasant surprise--the tent he opened to take down was occupied...by a dead person. YIKES!!
