In previous years it's said on vip page that vip had up front viewing area. This year that line is missing and only seen on the super vip page. Anyone have any information on this? Thinking of pulling the trigger on vip, but the up front viewing is going to be one of the major perks for me. Please and thank you!

I would e-mail cid. They can give you the true answer. They may not really know yet. I would hope they set this up like last year.

Last year SVIP was up front with VIP behind that. I would think it will be the same this year.

As I understand it, this year there will be a line of individually personalized air-conditioned portos with one way mirror glass doors up front for SVIP. VIP will be in umbrella topped high chairs directly behind them. The high chairs will be equipped with bicycle pedals that you will have to constantly pedal to provide power to the A/C portos. Everyone in GA will be required to wear a blindfold.

I understand this sentiment. I actually prefer it when vip areas are 1/5th of the stage off to one side so no one feels like they don't have the opportunity to get to the front. That being said I don't mind paying a little more to not have to fight everyone and show up early to get close during my favorite artists.

New this year the GA will be required to gather their belongings and exit the concert field ten minutes before each band ends, while still blindfolded, so as not to clog up the lines for food beer and bathrooms. Actually spin, I didn't mind the arrangement as it was last year. I never even tried to get up on the rail. I've seen what all those folks on stage look like and for the most part they ain't that pretty. How about it? I've never understood the obsession with getting up close. It's a nightmare up there. All the pushing and talking and singing and young people who are more interested in taking selfies and shit. Tried it once when I was on the floor at Rich Stadium; never went back.
I suppose there's the case to be made that you might as well watch a the webcast (assuming there is one) as look at the screens, but when's the last time you watched TV with 30,000 of your friends?
The ADA viewing platform was too close for my tastes. I'll be glad when this ankle fusion heals and I can go in search of the sweet spot where the people are mostly quiet and respectful, and the music can be heard well.

That is another perk of the vip viewing areas to be honest. Generally the people are a little bit older and have paid to be where they are so tend to be more focused on the music and less yapping to their friends.

Clearly I have. First time was Bonnaroo 2004 when she was playing a Flying V. She's cute and all that and I hear people swooning over her all the time but seriously I'm not that impressed. But she does rock out.

Being an Old Dude, I enjoyed going to the VIP section when I was by myself so I could see better but also to be with a bunch of similar people. But I also enjoyed getting in to the masses with my crew--I had 10 friends from home there (including sisters and their husbands) in GA. So VIP gave me a range of access choices. Since I bought it for better camping, I can't say whether that alone was worth $500 more.

I'm just looking forward to the option of having a 'safe' place to go and focus on the shows I want and still be able to socialize with folks at other times. Happy about the camping location but also know I'm sorta shortchanging myself going solo and missing the interactions of GA camping. I'd expect VIP to be decent folk, too, of course.

Musicphan, I've done a lot of festivals solo, GA, VIP, SVIP & I've always made a lot of friends & had a great time. Last year in SVIP I was camped across a forum member & on Friday we had a forum meetup. It was great fun & to meet all these great people was a big part of the experience
Being up front has it's perks, like great pics. But sometimes it's nice to be out further for sound quality. Sometimes being that close the sound goes over you. Being in the back to dance or sit down & let the music flow over you is great.

If they don't provide a VIP viewing area I'll be disappointed. One of the big reasons I upgraded this year was to get out of the masses of yapping people and hope that people who spend a few hundred extra dollars are more interested in what's going on on the stage than anything else unless it's a double rainbow

Totally serious. I said she was cute and I will go so far as saying she is a damn fine looking woman. But she is not the drop dead gorgeous that most make her out to be. Not enough to get me to battle for a rail spot or spend hundreds extra for a VIP spot.

Even though I had VIP tickets, I never got closer to the stage than the little pseudo shade tent in the middle of the field. I planted my crappy lawn chair in it as soon as the field opened everyday, took it back when the day was done. Had plenty of personal space, couldn't hear anyone talking, watched the soft parade continuously walking by. Utterly random people stopped by to talk to us.Looks like it's still up in the air. My middle name is Chill.
I admit though that at some festivals I do like to be up front if there is a lively band on stage, like Edward Sharpe or 21 Pilots. But some of our more senior bands, God bless them, perform like Disney Animatronics, and no way am I making an effort to get close to them like I once did.

That's me, with nearly constant dancing so long as my knees hold out though not the tent part. I like to wander sometimes too. I doubt we will know the lay-out until very close to the show. Management likes to keep its options open, and there are a lot of moving
parts (for example, sound and light is in VIP). So if they did give any info like that, they's also warn that it was subject to change. Same
goes for larger info such as the campus map, entrances and procedures, etc.
